So the wife calls me on her way to work this am and says "my brakes are making a funny noise". I told her I'd try to stop by her work and take a look but the day went by too fast & she just drove it home. I was waiting in the driveway when she pulled up, rear drivers side sounded awful. Jacked it up and had trouble getting 3 of the 5 lugs to break free w impact! After 30 minutes and 1/2 can of pb blaster I finally got the wheel off.

3 of the studs & lug nuts were trashed. I just had brand new tires put on back in April. I have a hard time believing I did this taking the nuts off. Took a sledge and hammered out the 3 bad ones. Also found rear pads down to metal, trashed the rotor.

Made a few phone calls to find parts in stock. Also had a nice argument w the biotch from parts store about whether or not the rotor could be turned down. Book says anything less than 16mm & it's trashed. High points measured 16.35, low points/grooves 16.10mm. She wouldn't turn it...as I walked out I threw that drum like a discus into the parking lot.

I called the tire shop & they said to bring pics and/or bad parts to them. We will see if anything happens. I was lucky w rear passenger side. Pads were thin but not down to metal so I saved a rotor....damn biotch! ;)
Also, had to steal lugs off other wheels so running w 4 until I can go by Yota stealership tomorrow and buy 3 more. Stay tuned.

Get ready for sticker shock on the lugs,...I think they were $10+ apiece.

Maybe I missed it, but did you figure out what happened? Stuck caliper slides?

I used Dorman 611-277 replacement lug nuts. Less than $7 ea. at carquest.

I have had that happen with lug bolts breaking and nuts stripping. Someone probably ground them in too much with an impact when the tires were installed instead of using the torque wrench. I love the discus toss:clap: Thats some stupid crap that I would do. I hate people sometimes.

discus toss only counts as cool if it's through the store main front window... :D

Ouch, no fun Sean! I can't imagine you throwing the drum like that! Reminds me of a fun game of spoons in high school and a tree out back! lol

On the Z71 site we run we see posts like that frequently. Seems most of those tire shops zap the lugs on as quick as possible, cross thread be damned. I can't imagine them not covering it. It's not like they were stripped before. If they would have been they would have been drooling in anticipation of charging you like $300 to replace and would tell you you couldn't leave as it was a safety issue.

I had to change the rear pads on our LC the weekend I brought it home as our pads had even less materiel than yours did (read: no materiel at all)
