i put a parts kit in the rear when i did. chris

what do you mean by "parts kit"? as for the rubbing, drive it a little bit, than pull drums and see where it is worn. that will help figure out why it's rubbing.

I answered this in the 40 forum Chris.;)

thnks i didnt know were i would get a better response.as for driving it to find the wear spot i thought of that but the wheel wont even move with a bar on it its so tight. by parts kit i ment bearings seals stuff like that. thanks

If it's like my problem, replace the paper gasket between the drum and the face of the axle - this caused my FJ40 drum to lock up. The gasket serves a spacing function, as well as serving to prevent the drum from sticking due to rust.

were can i get the gasket and how thick is it?

gasket

The gasket is about $2 at Toyota and still in production.

You can cut a test gasket out of a manila folder to experiment - but the Toyota gaskets are made out of some miracle cardboard that won't dissolve in the first rainstorm. It took about 2-3 thicknesses of a manila folder to fix my problem - so the gasket is more than a few thousandth's thick - it might be .020.

I felt like an idiot when I finally figured out why my wheel wouldn't turn after tightening the lug nuts.

well i machined the drums outer lip off almost a 1/2 of an inch and the lip on the inside were i thought the shoe would be touching atleast .100 thousands of an inch so thats were the problem is now and i shot some paint on the drum and put it on there to see were it would take the paint off and the most it took the paint off was were the brake shoe is and nowere else. what a pain. thanks:censor:
