The brake booster in my 80 seems to have given up the ghost.

What have you folks with 80's used for replacements with success?

OEM is spendy.

Aftermarket boosters seem to get poor reviews, maybe there is a good one ?

Used booster could be good, but for how long ?

What say my CSC brothers and sisters?

I replaced mine with a reman from Rock Auto several years ago and working great. I know others have used them also and had good results. Terry

Thanks Terry.

do you recall what brand of booster you received from Rock Auto?

I went OEM. Yeah, it's expensive, but after driving the truck down to CBT with only manual brakes, it made paying the price easier. Losing brake boost on the trail could be disasterous, and I bit the bullet.

I got a reman booster from Autozone with lifetime warranty. The reman booster is on the right side.

I got a remanufactured unit from O'Really Auto. The first replacement lasted 7 months. The lifetime warranty was handy, and I needed to exercise it. The 2nd replacement has lasted about a year. $225 as I recall.

If you get a replacement (reman), make sure it comes with a check valve. Not all of them do. Also, you may need to cut your own paper gasket for the firewall.

Options and customer service are what defines a good aftermarket parts supplier, some just want to compete and sell the cheapest stuff available. Better ones will offer an option of new to premium vs reman. Best ones will tell you flat out "might wan't to go Oem on that"
Shameless plug for Merle's Automotive, in Tucson.:slap:

I don't recall the manufacturer. Sorry

I have put 4 remans in my 80. All lifetime warranty but needing another one. Each one has lasted about 18 months. Not exactly impressive. The guys laughed at my 5 yr old receipt last time, but I haven't had to pay for 1 again. I will go OEM if I start putting more miles on the 80 though.

Fix the birfields and replace the front seats. Fall is just around the corner

I ended up going with an OEM booster from CBT. I plan on keeping my 80 indefinitely so I bit the bullet.

Found out my master cylinder was shot too, so I got and Avics (Aisin) from Rock Auto.

The wrenching starts tonight.
