Here is the problem: I installed a turbo on my HJ60, and it sits VERY close to the booster now. When driving through a deep pothole, the turbo hits the booster, which is not great in the long run.
Since the HJ60 has a very large booster, I thought maybe a smaller booster could solve the problem.
Does anyone know if a booster from a minitruck would fit a 60 series? also, could someone please measure the booster dimension on an FJ60 for me please?

thank you!

I installed a 4Runner booster in my 60, it is about 1" shorter (distance from MC bolts to firewall mount) but it has a slightly larger diameter. You have to flip the booster upside down to make it work.

sounds like you've got a lot of flex in your motor mounts
that, and the turbo needs to be repositioned a little bit

definately you can't have things whacking each other up in there

but even if you go with a different booster, I doubt you'll save more than a cm or two at the most.

maybe look at hydroboost (from a GM)? Totally different shaped thing.

Yes, currently it is not a great setup :)

The motor mounts are brand new, and tight. But with the turbo the outlet pipe is just about a cm away from the booster. It is not hitting the booster very hard, but it happens, so I think with two cms I'd be in the clear.

Thanks,

Please someone measure the diameter and thickness of their FJ60 booster!

thanks so much!

mini-truck brake booster will not work

I don't know about a brake booster from a 4-Runner, but a brake booster from a Toyota mini truck will definately not work in an FJ60. It will bolt in, the bolt pattern is the same, but the brake peddle travel will be way, way off, basically undrivable. Unfortunately I've been down this road before when the local Discount Auto Parts store in Tucson sold me a mini truck booster instead of the Land Cruiser booster I asked for.
