brake boost this!

well ive narrowed it down to the boster i think. the lines are bled the pads set. when i step on the breaks 95% of the time they r rock solid and i really have to push to stop the truck but the other 5% of the time it must kick in and it is real soft and stops quickly. almost as nice as my fj80. ideas.

Sounds like the booster is leaking. Do you hear a hiss near the brake pedal when your pressing the pedal?

make sure the booster is getting proper vacuum. If you are having idle or surging problems along with the brake issue....it really might be vacuum issues not a malfunctioning brake booster.

Also...there is a booster on ebay right now that seems reasonable.

pump the pedal, if the engine stumbles you have a bad booster.
