Just bought an 11 LX now trying to figure out what to do with the 98 LC.

It's been an amazing truck. It's nearly stock with 154k, runs and looks awesome.

My trail rig is a fully built 69 Bronco, 37" MTRs, ARB Lockers F/R etc. etc... So I don't really need a rig for that purpose. I do like the idea of building the LC but not sure how and when I'd use it if I already have a very capable trail rig.

Curious what ideas you all have?

Cheers!

Without a doubt you keep it! (of course that comes from someone who has an 80, two 100's, and a 200)

Or give to a beloved father/ mother, son/daughter, brother/sister, or niece or nephew...LOL or a wife. With much regret I've only sold one LC, a '84 FJ40. LC's are worth much more than you can sell for. My father drives my first LC, '99. My nephew drives my first Toyota, '96 4runner.

Your 100 has very low miles for the year, and if there's no rust will last for another indefinite period of time.

The 100 is definitely my favorite LC. One of the most build-able LC's, the most reliable, and the most comfortable!

I don't care what you do with the 100 just post pictures of the Bronco :D jk It sounds like it won't hurt you to keep it, but having an unused vehicle to maintain and insure often doesn't make sense especially one that gets poor mpg. You already have two others that get poor mpg that do awesome offroad, so my vote would probably be get rid of it unless there's someone in your family who needs a reliable/safe ride.

Sounds like you have your needs covered with the 200 and Bronco. Only reason I would keep the 100 is if you have any kids of driving age.

Agree, or about to be of driving age. Even a couple years out it would definitely be worth keeping. You could even no-op it and garage it for a while :)

I recently went through the same decision process. I sold my 100 after 16 years of adventure when I bought my 2013 LX. I miss it only when sending in my car payment. I had a lot of adventures with that old truck but it made no sense to keep it and have to find a place to park it in my very suburban driveway. Someone new will now get to enjoy it.

In the end it's just a truck. The experiences we have with them are what is important. It took me a lot of years to learn this but I'm now glad i did.

Out with old

Thanks for the replies!

I'll try to post up a pic of all three rigs tonight... would be good to have a pic of my babies anyways :)

Good comments so far and a lot to think about... my kids won't be driving for 10 years or so. My mom and dad may be able use it at their vacation home in Palm Desert, CA. That'd would be a good place for it actually. Then my fam could use it to do a little wheeling while on vaca :) Hmmm...

I have a hard time letting things go. I know it's just a truck. But it's the first truck my wife and I bought together. The truck that safely brought home each of our children as newborns. The truck that we've made many great road trip memories in. The truck that day after day continues to drive and perform like new.

Standby for pics....

Cheers!

Ugh... I hear you on that kind of stuff. It's hard for me to not get attached to something that's been so good to me. I just had a hard time letting an old bike go lol :(

What is a yellow box?

Honestly for that reason alone i would keep it. Theres a toyota out there that i sold that has the same meaning to me and its killing me that i dont have it. I guarantee it even 10 years from now your kids are going to think its so cool to be driving their dads old land cruiser. I say keep it in the family or park it in a garage. My 83 fj40 is sitting in a garage for the last 12 years or so. Yeah i am not using it, but its going to be so nice when i do a full resto-mod from the frame up.

Thats my .02 my friend

I love the new 200s but nothing is ever going to compare to the 100 series! I've always thought the more they 'improve' and update a vehicle, the less rugged and durable it is. It seems like all these car companies are focusing more on fuel consumption and efficiency than ruggedness. After all, the vehicles that get the most done are usually older models. That's just my thought though!

The same could be said about the 100 in comparison to the 80, 60, 55, or 40.

I think you have already figured out that you need to keep it.

I shipped two LC's to Hawaii at our vacation rentals. We have paid for them twice already in rental car savings. Sending to your parents vacation place might be the best short term decision. Then give to your first born and tell them you brought them home in this rig kinda thing.

Absolutely I agree, I am obviously bias toward the 100 since that is what I own but I've always believed negative 'side affects' often accompany positive improvements.
