Both Exhaust Manifolds Leaking at Y-Pipe

Esteemed experts, help needed!

I just had my mechanic (a perfectly trustworthy dude) replace the y-pipe after the cat fell apart. The old pipe was also leaking at one of the manifold junctures. Mechanic says both manifolds are warped because the old pipe was leaking and now there's tons of blow-by at the junctures between manifolds and the new y-pipe. Sounds and smells like I might as well not even have the rest of the exhaust hooked up.

Anybody have any good second opinions before I pull the manifolds off?

Make sure he got all the old gasket material off. Those y pipe gaskets can get almost fused to the metal of the manifolds .
