Bosch Icon vs RainX Latitude?

I park all my vehicles out in the weather. I just replace the wipers every year. Not like it's a big $$ versus fuel, tyres, oil etc etc...

I don't believe any of the b/s of the various wiper/refill manufacturers. Any 1/2 decent brand will work well when new and harden up/skip/smear within a year or so. Obviously the super cheap junk skips/smears from day one :)

cheers,
george.

I'm an Ikon user and Live in the California Central Valley. I have to replace my wipers every year. Summer Heat kills them.

I use the $8 goodyear ones from costco. I replace them every year along with the annual oil change. I've used the Icon's before, and they weren't noticeably better.

I still prefer the traditional looking Bosch units over anything else. The 2 sets of Rain-X I tried didn't make 6 months each due to cracking. The ICON works well but I've had the wiper edge split a few times when a leaf stem got stuck under them. I'd rather save the money and stick with the traditional. Sorry I don't know the name of it. I go through a lot of wipers on a lot vehicles.

That said, ICON is on my 80 right now. 8 months and still going, even with a crack or two.

I live in Maine. I use the RainX Latitude on all my vehicles. Just replace the one on my LX that lasted 4 yrs. Started streaking during last the last snow.

I live in the PNW and it rains about 13 months a year here ;p. I replace the Wipers every fall no mater the brand. Most by that time are streaking badly or the ends are starting to tear off whether they cost $20 each or $5.

I have had the rain x on my Jeep for 3 years. No complaints. I believe I have the Bosch on the 80. No complaints on them either.

I have my bosch icons for no kidding, 5 years so far. When it starts to streak, I just wipe down the blades and good as new.

never try the bosh .. but had RainX in wife 80 and PIAA Silicon in my 80 .. PIAA winning hands down ..

Has anyone here had both?

I think I'll just give the RainX ones a try since they're about the same price :meh:

The reason I bought the Bosch after the rain x was they were a little cheaper and someone on another forum said that the rain x were relabeled made by Bosch. Don't know if that is true but mine look pretty much the same.

PIAA silicone wipers. I have a set on my Maxima that are 9 years old and still going strong. I hope to get the same kind of life out of the ones I installed on the 80.

I have been using rain-x on the 80 for the last 4yrs. They seem to live well for about 2-2.5yrs. Went to put new wipers on a new 4r I bought and they were out of stock so tossed on some Bosche Icons. Too early too tell know, but sure work great now.

Had bosch icons that lasted about 2 years. Replaced them last may with new bosch micro edge. No chatter. Ran the goodyears from costco. Beam blades dont really work for the 80. Too much streaking. Although the goodyears work perfectly on my DD hyundai.

anyone know the sizes of the 3 wipers on the 80 off the top of their head? i think i'm going to order some off amazon right now
