The rust spot is about a size of a dime, would like to know what kind of sand paper to use to remove it.

Thanks.

Depends on where it is. A small wire brush, maybe on a Dremel, might clean it up nicely. I just experimented with some "Rust Converter" from an auto parts store, it seemed to do ok with the rust I couldn't reach.

I got some slimy rust dissolver stuff in a jar from the auto parts store and it worked good. I used a wire brush on it, then smeared this stuff on, then let it sit for like 15 minutes. After that I wiped it off and poof! the rust was gone. It left bare clean metal that I sanded, primed, and painted.

Yea, but did it throw off a shower of molten metal? :hillbilly: I thought not.

that goo would be naval jelly?
I would try that first, naval jelly is on good on light surface rust.
If not that, then a a bit of 80 grit followed by self-etch primer and some touchup paint.
