The guy who was going to do some work for me has flaked. I need a good body/paint man to help out with some side swipe damage. Please let me know if you know anyone who does a good job at a reasonable price.
Thanks!

Think they'd be able to clean/smooth out some bad cutting on the rear of my 40 by the PO?

I think he's able to do anything you could throw at him.
I've seen resto projects, collision cars, 4x4 fab stuff all at his shop from time to time.

i know this has been asked a few times in here, but there is never much response. on cliff's advice, i did call dean @ rock hard fab and he said he is backlogged several months (3 to 4 if you want body work AND paint, 2 months or so for sheetmetal work only). i even asked dean if he could recommend anyone else in town that he thought did good work, but he didnt have any suggestions.

so does anybody else know of a good shop in town (phoenix) that will deal with things like rust removal, panel replacement, etc? i know most of the regular body shops only want to deal with insurance claims and fender benders.

then again, i guess i should just pull the trigger and buy a welder and see if i cant make it any worse all by myself!

 Call around to the local community colleges or vo-tech schools and ask if they need any body shop projects. Good supervised work for the cost of supplies.

Might be better than dumping a bunch cash into a top notch job to get abused on a trail rig.

This is old information and may be outdated. Mike at Dunlap Collision on Dunlap (!) and 7th Street is a good guy. They don't handle restorations that I know of, but they do good bodywork and paint, if you're just looking for someone competent. He's a 4x4 guy, likes to mod things, so he might be sympathetic to your cause. However, it's been years since I talked to him, don't even know if he still owns the place or not.

It doesn't show up in google local. I found a number on dexonline but it doesn't answer. Thanks for posting though...I am still looking.

I saw yours and supplied the flares for it. It is not very hard compared to mine! I'm moving and am up to my tail in big toothed lizards. If I can find the time maybe I can fix it. PM!

Hey guys, since this thread got bumped up again I'll post up my buddies shop. He's had YEARS of experience running a VERY high end shop in town and decided to go out on his own about 2 years ago. He's an AWSOME paint and body guy. He ain't CHEAP but he's GOOD.

Talk to Matt Howard at Deluxe customs http://www.deluxecustoms.com/

Tell him that Branden Hoy sent ya. He's a real good dude, and he does phenominal work.

One of Matt's paint jobs that some of you might recognize.

Do you think he'd have any interest in just fixing some bad PO cut in my 40 rear fenders? Problem is I can't find someone who will do basically a great job and understand I don't want the super-duper shiny paint job on top, just the basics.

The top of the 40 also just needs to be buffed/sanded and painted white. Nothing special, think he'd do that too?

Call him and ask. His #'s are on the website. He's located over around 28th st and Indian School behind Bob Darnell's Vespa shop.

If you want him to do body work only and you shoot the paint or whatever I'm sure you could work something out with him. Just tell him exactly what you want done and he'll let ya know what he will or will not do.

Bman...thanks. I will call your buddy...that isn't far from my office.
Brian I will shoot you a PM.
I got another quote Tuesday...I gotta get it done. It may come down to how many days I can live with out the LC.

Cool, I hope he can help ya out.

Keep in mind, there are alot of "fly-by-night" paint and body guys out there. Matt is not one of them. This guys work is top notch. He's not gonna dick ya around. Make sure you mention me though, it might help with the repetoir (?). If I was building anything of any quality and I needed perfect work done I would NEVER put my vehicle in the hands of any other shop...PERIOD.

Let me know what he says.
