Hello everyone!

So I was under my vehicle checking things over when I noticed the body mount bushing was loose. So I tighten the nut but it just spins in place. I pulled the nut and it came out with part of bolt all rusted.

I have tools and I want to DIY it, How do I replace this body mount bushing and bolt? Please help me. Thank!

Here is the body mount I am talking about, behind the left front tire. (notice missing nut and bolt)

Replacing the bolt requires getting to the nut at the top which is under the carpet. Pull bottom trim, kick panel, and then fold carpet back.

Here’s a link to the part numbers you’re looking at.

To swap bolt AND body mount you may be able to just lift the body at the pinch weld with a jack pad and floor jack, slide the mount out and put a replacement in. You may need to loosen the other body mount bolts on that side however they have some flex built in. The pinch weld requires you to remove the plastic rocker panel. Look underneath and you’ll see (I think 8) plastic black circles. Pry each put in addition to unscrewing at each end.

Thank you so much for your explanation. I will do this and will let you know how it all went.

I found the bolt, but I am wondering if I need to undo the other mounts do I risk a chance of snapping the bolts for them too or is this the only this one that is prone to rusting like that? I am surprised at how corroded the bolt is for being in a mostly a desert driven car in a dry country.

got pictures of the other bolts? Only time I messed with them was to install the body lift so I don’t know if the body mounts have a lip that requires you to raise it up higher than they have flex at the other mounts, no harm in trying if you’re going slow. i recall having corrosion on my bolts too and I have zero frame rust at all, but not that bad…

The other bolts LOOK fine, but this one also looked fine but was mess underneath.
I removed the lower bushing and I was left with this rusty sleeve. I cleaned the sleeve. Just to test if I have the flexibility to take it out. I put a bottle jack under and jacked it up. The jack was able to lift the wheels off the ground without the mount flexing more than an inch. I just gave up and let it be. The vehicle drives perfectly fine so I wouldn't bother.

This is the metal sleeve

This is after cleaning and trying to jack it up.
