To have this kind of tire carrier, do we have to do some reinforcement from inside or do all the LC100 have the ability to fix one like this.(bolt on) It looks kind of cool and I have seen these only in GULF spec. cruisers.

Does this means we can do it to the US cruisers too ;o)))

Sure, just use sheet metal screws... :hillbilly:

Are you still recovering from your R&P damage :flipoff2:

FWIW, JDM and other overseas 80 series with the OEM tire carrier had reinforcements inside the quarter panels that US market 80's did not have. Remove your passenger side tail light and take a peek to see if there are any obvious reinforcements (you can also compare it to the drivers side).

Not only that, but the lift gate and tailgate are different. The tailgate has a a "dent" to make room for the carrier.

Just order a Kaymar rear bumper replacement with swing out tire carrier :D

Do you have a picture of this "dent?" I was under the impression it was the standard tailgate but with a cover over it. How does the lift gate differ?

I thought about converting mine when I first bought it. Took it to the dealer and it turns out I needed:

1- tail gate
2- lower hatch
3- tail light covers (it covers the hole when lights are removed)
4- some sort of reinforcement IIRC
5- license plate holder, wiring, lights. etc.
6- emblems
7- tire carrier and locking mechanism
8- other misc parts I don't remember

needless to say I changed my mind, bought a kaymar bumper with single tire, sold it, and now installed ARB bumper with dual tires :)

The dent is on the lower hatch. Lift gate differs in the position of the emblem, open lever, and license plate holder.

dont remind him, he was threatening, last night when i was at his house, that he isnt going to wheel anymore. Tell him it will be all ok and he can take it offroad, really, seriously he can.

Thanks hks3sgte. Yes, that would be a very expensive mod. For those who have dual carrier bumpers and want an off-to-the-side license plate, this might be a reasonably cheap aftermarket solution.

what about a carrier for the stock roof rack? im gettin tired of my full size spare in the back and not havin room and cant afford a slee rear bumper. thinkin about gettin one made, but if someone already sells them....

I've had a 2nd spare tire mounted on my roof for a while. It gets really annoying really quick. You can actually feel the wind resistance on the highway. before I mounted the tire, 50% of parking garages in the city were out of the question. After I mounted it on the roof another 49% became out of the question.

another option would be to purchase kaymar tire carrier that attached to the stock bumper.

Did u get this from kaymar web??

My friend got a Hitch mount spare carrier, but it kill some of the departure angle. It's also not that stable, you can see the tire move left and right while driving on trail.
