I had a short in the wiring harness of my after market radio that caused me to lose all instrument panel functions. No gauge movement at all and have a parasitic draw on the battery. I have to jump it after a day or two without driving. I replaced the faulty wiring harness, but it did not fix the issue. No blown fuses. I took to a local auto electrician, they think the short fried my body control module and suggested that a replacement part is $2700 (+ labor) and that they were not sure whether it would fix the issue, as there could be other electrical systems impacted. So I have a few questions:

1) anybody have a part # for the body control module(s). I think there are two.
2) If I were to source these, would it be plug and play? The electrician said that they might have to be programmed.
3) any other suggestions/recommendations to solve this?
4) auto electrician recommendations in the Denver area for a second opinion?
5) am I totally screwed?

Thanks for any help/suggestions in advance.

Sorry for the late reply - hopefully this makes it to you. I am working through a different electrical issue on a 100 series, but have enough knowledge to cover this hopefully for you:

1) The part you are looking for is Controller and Junction Instrument Module. On my 2002 LC it is part # 82791-60041, it looks like this and is referred to in the factory service manual (FSM) as the Body Control Module. It may be different on an LX but should still a part you can find for under $150 and located in the same spot.

It is very easy to access, you just pull the surround on the stereo; then remove the 4 Phillips/10mm screws holding the stereo in. Disconnect the stereo harnesses for easier access. Look from underneath up under the dash above there the stereo is, and press the two retention tabs and pop this unit down. Three harnesses go in, and you can pop them out and a new one in. It's a very easy project if you have some cheap plastic trim tools and a flat head/Philips screw driver.

2) It is plug and play, no programming. I have an extra one as I was troubleshooting my key locking issue and it turns out this unit is totally fine. I paid $80 for one that was confirmed working, if you want you can try this one - you're welcome to it for the same price I paid. My issue ended up being my passenger side junction box. I am located in Loveland and I can mail it your way as well for whatever UPS needs to take it your way.

3) any other suggestions/recommendations to solve this? I would think that the dome fuse would have protected this unit when you experienced the short but the FSM points to replacing this unit when you experience the dash lights out and you have replaced the dome and ECU B fuses.

4) auto electrician recommendations in the Denver area for a second opinion? Most shops are egregiously expensive, I would try digging into this yourself. It's tedious, but satisfying when you resolve it.

5) am I totally screwed? Nope. If its this module, swap it in 30 minutes for under $100.

Try hopping on Partsouq, plug in your VIN, and start searching the part drawings for the module. The drawings will at least give you a rough idea where to start searching, an a part number to confirm when you've found it.

The 105 may be different; its RHD right? It's likely going to be on the left; your passenger side wheel well

Check out the following link; reviewing the portion of the manual for "Body Electrical"
