Brian & BOD,
From reading Brian's post, it appears you have given this change a lot of thought. I agree with your suggested changes and appreciate you sharing the reasons for those changes. I look forward to talking more at the Dec meeting.

I am going to have to bow out of the nomination. I do not feel i can motivate anyone here to work toward getting the trails in better shape and making new trails.

For me this is not a hobby but a passion of my life.

Darin, there seems like a lively discussion in the Ideas For Uwharrie thread. Are we not providing enough input or enthusiasm to show our support? I speak for myself, but I know of a good 10 people here in the club that have put a good number of hours in on the trails out there and feel much like you do. I know both Adam and Mike have offered up any equipment we might need in order to improve trails...

I think you should message Greg and get access to the BOD section in order to let everyone know what the other items are that are being discussed about Uwharrie...

Don't give up on us that easy Darin :D ONSC is always slow out of the gates with everything we do, but I think we can all agree that once we get going, it's a hell of a machine!! Can't say I have any "ideas", but I think if we got together at the next function and dedicated a brainstorming session, you might be pleasantly surprised. The ideas start flowing once the light bulbs come on.

^^^ what those two said. I'm def willing to donate a day rental or maybe two for a bobcat. I plan on trying and making a workday this year.

What Ramon and Brian said, I thought the discussion in the other thread was getting some good ideas out there.

I know this year our turnout has been less than stellar....I only made 2 this year compared to my normal 3.

I think a lot of it this year was other family obligations and just the price of gas. It costs me $100 to drive to uwharrie, do the trails and back in the cruiser. Which I can't afford right now.

Next year i'm hoping to get a car pool thing going on to this so more people can make it out there. Hell with the suburban I'll be able to fit 7 people in it :D

Hi Everyone!

I usually keep quiet and watch from afar!

Darin hasn't given up on you! I have asked that he focus his attention where it can make the most impact and still leave us time for family life. We need a larger show of people involved physically in our efforts and it is difficult for people with busy lives to make time for what is needed.

As a BOD member of Friends of Uwahrrie, Darin will be logging in some serious hours in Uwharrie and will be able to work closer with the FS, other independent groups and will actually have a bit of a say in what happens within the park. He has the opportunity to help determine how the trails are used, protected and can be improved.

Even though he has stepped down as far as serving on the ONSC board, he will continue to support the club, will encourage everyone to participate in saving our trail systems and will still enjoy events with our friends in ONSC.

One by one our national parks that allow OHV trails are closing public access to trail systems, there has been a load of discussion on doing the same in Uwharrie, and one of Darin's goals is not to let that happen. Any resources that you can volunteer will be appreciated and used. By serving on FOU, Darin can have a great impact.

We hope the person chosen to be the liaison for ONSC will push people to stay involved and will support our systems by getting as much information to our group as possible.

Robin
