Will the BlueDriver OBD2 reader and app give live transmission fluid temp data? I have a BlueDriver but it and my 200 are not where I am physically at. I'm looking through the "all" Live Data items but don't see A/T temp. I would think that would be there for sure. I am planning of adding ATF and checking the level this weekend and need to be able to know the ATF temp.

Hey guys, I know there are some Bluedriver users out there, someone knows the answer to this question. From what I have found on google, I think Bluedriver may not have the A/T temp in the live data. I'll know on Sunday when I get down to where I keep the truck.

I wrote Blue Driver about this Jan, 2020 as follows - complete with typo.
I haven't checked into it since.

Message from me to Blue Driver:
I have a Blue Driver module and it works fine with my Galaxy S3. The problem is that the two transmission temperatures, (at pan and at torque converter) do not show up. I'm certain these temperatures are measured by the vehicle as users of Scangauge and Ultragauge report seeing them. Having htese values would be of enormous value as I plan to tow. Any help would be appreciated.

Response from Blue Driver to me:
Unfortunately transmission temperature is not part of the OBDII standard live data set and is not currently supported by BlueDriver. We are starting R&D on displaying ATF temp for Chrysler & Toyota (the two most common requests for fluid changes) but there is no full ETA for release, or a list of what manufacturers will follow.

New features are added in order of demand so I'll record your vote!

Thanks. must mean the device is hard coded for parameter and doesn’t scan for what is available. I wouldn’t think A/T temps would not be that unusual.

for the 200, there is a procedure in the FSM that uses a jumper on two of the OBD2 pins and makes the dash soffit position indicator flash “D” if the ATF if at the correct temp to check level. Guess I’ll see how that works.

Blue Driver is being coy. Note that they say "not part of the standard data set". I am assuming those measurands are there since their competitors are claiming to be showing them.

well, coy to the point that the app doesn't list the temps under the "all" tab in Live data. They will have to turn something on in an update for users to get the temps.

If you have a wireless OBD reader either bluetooth of wifi, download OBD fusion and get the buy the Toyota PIDs for your year. It's really cheap and they show AT temps, also I believe Carista is another option that offers it along with Torque.

I use OBD Fusion and a generic ELM 327 OBD2 reader. OBD Fusion along with the Toyota Enhanced PID pack will give you both transmission temps as well as oil temp.

Thanks. Should have done a little more research before I bought the BlueDriver. Just assume they would all read everything available.

Hey @linuxgod I got the OBD Fusion app and I see "Toyota Enhanced Diagnostics" in app extra purchases by model year up to 2020 for $9.99 and one for $50 that is 1996 to 2020. Did you just get your model year version? Would the 2020 version not work on an older vehicle? I have 3 Toyotas all different years. Maybe I just need to spring for the $50 one?

Never mind, looks like I just need to connect the device and it will tell me what will work for my vehicle(s)

Sweet little app. Makes it so easy to use and getting temps and other info

You want the $9.99 version. That includes all the specialty PIDs. Note that if you buy it for iPhone and then decide to use Android later, you'll have to re-purchase... I asked and there's no way to transfer between them.

The $50 version I *believe* is for diagnostics though TBH I haven't investigated it closely as the $9.99 pack gave me everything I could need and more. My suspicion is the $50 diag pack is like techstream, in which case it wouldn't necessarily give you the display PIDs anyway.

Linuxgod, you seem to have all the answers I need!! Thanks for the documentation you sent me the other day! I have an airbag light on the 2015 200 I just picked up (so the saga begins!) and I want to check/reset codes. I was looking at Bluedriver and using the search function here (yay me!) and I found this thread. I ordered the veeppeak off amazon as it was recommended on the OBD Fusion page. Which one are you using? I just did some reading on ELM-327 and it seems like any bluetooth OBD-II should work, correct?

Mine was a cheapo ELM327 adapter. Cost maybe $18? I think any of them should work so long as they claim ELM327.

Mine uses Wifi... Bluetooth wasn't supported at the time. I've been tempted to swap it for a BT one (since using it in WiFi mode breaks internet access) but I haven't tried to search to confirm that using a BT model won't disconnect vehicle audio. Hopefully someone else on here can chime in and confirm that.

July of 2024 and I just called BlueDriver customer support. They confirmed that they do not currently offer transmission temperature as a part of their offerings. Like others, I made the mistake of assuming a $100 new and fancy dongle would read something my $20 5-year-old dongle has done since day one. My mistake.

Do you have the link to your $20 adapter?

This thread is probably a better read for this info.

Pretty much any ELM327 device will work. Carista and VeePeak are the ones I've tried. I recommend one that uses BLE (version of Bluetooth) for connectivity if you have an iPhone.
