Hey guys,
over the Holidays my fan blower started working intermittently. while driving it would stammer and work then switch off... if you quickly flipped the switch back and forth it would then come on... after a while nothing worked and it is now dead... i have stripped the dash and checked for loose wires and switches, but so far nothing...

has anyone had this issue and what was the "Fix?"

dash is stripped at the moment and i will be fiddling around inside there...

my cruiser is right hand drive.

further fiddling leads me to the heater relay....? checked for continuity as specified in the manual, all fine. connect power to the reply it "clicks" but and there is no continuity between terminal 4 and 5 as specified. does this relay influence the Blower? because i read further in the manual and they make mention of a Heater blower resistor... i removed the kick panel and there is a "ceramic rectangular" thing there but with only two lugs/pins... i removed and checked that, there is continuity there.. but in the manual they show a 4 pin resistor??

also, i have a 24v cruiser but this rely is 12v??? can that be? everything has been working fine for about 2years... is it possible that a previous owner could have fitted 24-12v converters? i have one inside my dash but as far as i can trace, that was used for the alarm/immobilizer...
would it work as follows, 24v to converter... 12v from converter to 12v relay, from relay to a replaced 12v blower?

Intermittent then failure leads me to think motor. The resistor usually fails on the 2low er settings and work on the highs. You can pull it and check, it's directly to the right of the gas pedal (assuming your lhd) that is. The brushes are probably toast in the blower.

resistor could be dead, but then the motor should work on full speed. But this sounds more like a brush problem on the motor itself. Check them out. i think the blower engine under your seat fits the one in the dash too.
It should say on the motor if its 12 or 24 volt... and check what kind of current that the relays run of.

ok, am i assuming correctly when i say the resistor is that "cermaic" block behind the kick pannel? my cruiser is RHD and the manual says its there. how do i check if its working? check for continuity when its disconnected or when connected and power is fed to it?

the fan would thus be on the left side under the dash yes?? and i have no motor.engine under my seat as my interior was stripped out and replaced by previous owner... :( there is however a blower under the center console???

the relay that seems to be blown is 12v. the power at the terminals where the relay plugs into is 24v... :( this is an issue...... ???
