O.K. here, just bought a 60 and it is in the process of being shipped here from Wyoming. From what I have gathered from the PO it is stock. Like most of you that live in the northern half of the northern hemishpere, it gets cold. :frown: Where do I get ahold of a block heater if there isn't one currently installed? The PO also said that the valves are due for an adjustment in 1000 miles. How many of you do this at home and what is entailed? Third Q here. I saw a post about using a factory AM/FM/CD from an '05 Scion in a 62. Does anyone know of another factory CD player that would fit in a '84 60? Anything out of a camry or other truck??? (It's not fair. :crybaby: )

Like most other noobs, I'll have lots of other questions to ask and things to learn.

WooHoo! Another Ioweeegan!

My 60 came with a block heater installed.... and there is a recent thread on this subject in this forum. Check it out. LINK

Any CD player will fit. Mine is just some $99 Pioneer job that fits great. Well, mine does have a good sized trim ring, maybe that's why it look good?

yo Blue - several of us here in the des moines area... happy to help

there's also a great guy in the Quads named Matt Tarnow who both knows a lot and has a whole barn full of parts... he parts cruisers as a hobby and sells at great prices.

I also have a bunch of 60 stuff from one I parted if you need anything

In order to get a newer DIN size head unit to fit correctly, you need to basically remove the dash cover (pretty easy, only a few screws) and 'modify' the factpry brackets to accomodate the greater width of the DIN size units. Then mount the radio, and put it all back together as one unit. Taking off the dash pad with make the wiring easy.

I just bent the factory brackets out of the way and used the sleeve style retaining unit that came with my new radio.

You can also buy up to 97 model AM/FM/CD from a Toyota just about anything and it will plug in. I have 96 model Landcruiser radios in both my 60 series.

I put a Scion radio in my 62, not too bad with a little dremel work. Move mounting brackets from stock radio to Scion radio, harness plugs right in, no mods. No dremel work on dash opening, so was pleased about that.

Former Iowan - South central, my bro still has a 640 acre farm a mile north of Missouri line...
