Two new issues with my 1987 BJ74 automatic . Any help in the cause and cost of repairs thanks. When I turn off the ignition there is a pause of a couple seconds before the motor turns off . And unrelated problem that when I use the turn single I get 4 ways instead . All four bulbs blink when I do this so it doesn't seem to be a burnt bulb . So I am thinking a module somewheres ?

Thanks for Any help
Ken

Re: signal light issue...have you got a trailer harness wiring adapter installed? I had one fry a few years ago causing the same symptoms.

Thanks . I'll look at that . I never pull a trailer anyways so it doesn't matter to me . Now I gotta figure why it wouldn't turn off . Somebody mentioned it was not a good idea to stall it . But I had to get it stopped .

if you have a rotary injection pump, there is a magnetic valve to shut the fuel on the pump which sometimes stick.

In my case the Reese black box that converts 3 wire input into 2 wire output got cooked...presumably b/c of 24v input. As soon as I unhooked and tossed it everything went back to normal. Ended up running separate brake and signal lights on my trailer.

This is what is looks like.

Mate if its diesel on the injector pump (towards the fire wall) there is a solenoid with one wire at the top. Really hard to get to.... But sometimes it fries or the wire which is at the top comes loose. So no turn off. It is a magnetic spring loaded shut off valve, that sometimes get crud in them which stops is shutting so stops the shut off, It is (on my troopie) hard to get off but a open ended spanner will get it off in the end....

If you have to get it off, there is also a gauze filter under the solenoid, which you need to hook out carefully with a wire and clean it out,,, It is very fine, so take your time
