Just received my Blackstone Labs report with high Posassium, Sodium and Silicon with comments of a coolant leak into the oil. :crybaby:

The PO had the head gasket replaced at 140K, I'm at 180K now. Looks like I'm due for (another) a head gasket or maybe a cracked head. Could it be that the PO didn't have the head milled square last time? I'm surprised to see this and am not looking forward to the expense.

Anyone know who to go to for the following work in Phoenix, AZ?
1) Machine Shop for 80's heads. Considering Kelly's Machine Shop due to a great site visit and tour. No experience with actual machine work.
2) Fuel Injector cleaning service in North Phoenix/Scottsdale area.
3) New head source.

You shouldn't be blowing a 2nd in 40k unless the first job botched. Until you have symptoms, I wouldn't fret it to much. I may just be residue from the prior failure.

There's a CSC meet on Friday, there will be plenty of people to bounce ideas off.

I can't make the meet on Friday unfortunately, I have to work late and early the next day. I'm going to check out the other tests, look for bubbles, Napa kit, check the plugs in the mean time. He did use non-OEM plug wires and cap so I think he may have used el-cheapo head gasket too. The guy was a Toyota fleet mechanic but who knows what parts he used.

What about the oil cooler? Are u having any other symptoms like sludge on oil cap?

No, nothing like that. I am consuming coolant though, I think. I just replaced a leaky water pump and my reservoir was low. I suspected it was just bleeding out sit and so I filled it yesterday. Will keep an eye on it though.

The plan is to generate 2 more Blackstone tests prior to accepting defeat. :). I know Murf an the Camelback crew will do a fantastic job but I'm a massocist. ;). Besides, I planned on doing the EGR/Vacuum lines, PHH and other hoses and maybe a 150A alternator (Sequoia). I've got a leaking cat gasket too so once I wrestle the exhaust from the head, that may be easier too. Besides, my son will get a good mechanical OTJ training week.

Then you know Murf also has not problem sharing the info for fuel injector service and a machine shop.

No fair doing the PHH with the head off. Come do mine first for the full experience.:D

A little off topic but what are you doing that needs a 150A alternator.

I do need a fuel injector cleaner for sure and machine shop. I have a 400w Alpine amp and thought since I was there I would rebrush the alternator but then why not put a 150 in instead?

Fair enough, but dont forget about replacing my PHH:flipoff2:

Best of luck on your next report

You noticed I ignored that part huh? :)

How did your bubble test turn out?

Haven't had a chance to get to the bubble test yet. I'll post up when I do though.

I just compared your test to my old one. Your numbers are quite a bit higher than mine, and I had to replace HG. I was only 197 potassium, 166 sodium

How long between when you received your numbers and when you replaced it? Were you showing physical symptoms when you replaced it?

I had the test done before I bought it, trailered to the house and started work immediately to replace it. It wasn't showing anything, no exhaust smells, no milky oil, the suction test on the coolant barely started to shift to a different color.
But HG was a mess once I finally got down to it. This was at about 97,000 miles

Thanks for the info. That's where I am now. No outward signs but I think I'll have to tend to it soon.

Did yours blow on number 6 and did the plugs show anything at all?
