I have a 1976 BJ40 (B engine) that has been rebuilt over the last 10 years. Now it is running again, but with a few problems. When I push the accelerator hard it puffs out some really black smoke. I cannot say it did that 10 years ago, but I'm not sure. I did not touch the engine as such as it was running good. Except that I removed the injection pump and painted the block.
Else, the car is running fine.
Anyway, I have read a few threads on the matter, and it seems these points can be a problem:
Is there anything I have missed?
Before changing diaphragm which is a pita job, and overhauling injectors I would like to check fuel settings, but where is the adjustment on this pump (22100-56020) . I have not found anything like it here on Mud.

Anyway, I have read a few threads on the matter, and it seems these points can be a problem:
- Bad vacuum diaphragm
- Edic locked in start position
- Bad injectors
- Adjust fuel setting
- Air filter clogged
- Bad pump timing?
- I have tested by sucking in the hose. But I am not sure, could not decide.
- Edic is OK
- Could be.
- Is this really so? And where is the adjustment on my pump. See below
- Nope, new filter
- Could be as I remove the pump. But is this really a possibility.
