Like a lot of you guys, I have been on the search for some high quality black lug nuts for quite some time. The only chrome on the side of my Cruiser comes from the lug nuts and I would love to get rid of it. It seems that our lug nuts are of a unique design and I haven't felt comfortable with any of the products I have run across.

A little while back I ran across a thread where someone mentioned LugCaps from Galaxy Aftermarket. LugCaps are simple rubber molded lug nut covers (like the caps on fold-able chairs and tables) that slide over your existing lug nuts. According to their marketing, they serve 2 purposes.

  • Protecting your existing lug nuts from the elements. (As soon as you have the wheels off a few times you will most-likely chip the chrome finish on the lug nuts and rust sets in shortly after that).
  • Adding a bit of personalization to the look of your wheels.

Our lug nuts have a wide shoulder so the LugCaps do not black out 100% of the chrome but they do somewhat change the look of the vehicle.

Product info

Website: ColorLugs™ | Black and Colored Covers for your Lug Nuts or Lug Bolts | Products

Product ID: CL24PKSX
Product Name: SleevesT 24 Pack w/Extractor
Quantity: 24 caps
Unit Price: $17.99
Lug Size (Diameter) : 21mm-13/16"(CL87S)
Color : Ninja Black

To my door price: $23.24

I was a little concerned about fitment since our lug nuts are 22mm, but after speaking with the owner, he assured my a snug fit using the 21mm size.

Not sure how I feel about these of if they are going to be a huge pain during a trail repair but I think I am going to keep them on a for a bit while I make up my mind. I may even paint the shoulders of the OEM lugs nuts and see what that looks like.

Here are some pics:

Looks great! I painted mine last year and have had the wheels on and off dozens of times. They are chipped badly but still look OK. I would be interested in these myself. My lug nuts are rusting as well.

That looks pretty sweet Paul!!

Ive grown to love my graphite color on the wheels, but touch-up, hubs, and lug nuts ahve me thinking of going black is just easier. The you dont ahve to worry about the lugs. Just hit em with paint when it needs it. Othwie your lugs look like they have nipples....

Maybe that isnt a bad thing???
