Black Headliner: Terra vs HE (no cooler) Need some 2nd opinions (1 Viewer)

Thanks for everyone's feedback, definitely leaning more towards terra now. But I guess I'll update a little more context, outside of just the coolbox.

The two I'm looking at are both 2021, white, 80k miles. The HE is about $6k more.
The reason why I'm not so concerned about budget is because

- HE has KO2s on it. So subtract $1.5k off for wheels/tires that I'll need to purchase for the Terra. Then the difference becomes $4.5k
- The Terra is 10h more drive, and would add about $700 in fuel/hotel/food. (Altho this cost is offset if I buy a fridge for the HE)
- Both have great Toyota maintance recrods. Altho the HE has oil change every 5k, and Terra has the recommened 10k.

For roughly $4.5k more I can get an HE(that has 3rd row which is cool, but would be removed anyways.) I'd definitely prefer the larger center console, and obviously

HE is HE. I do like the updated grill/tinted headlights, but not as much as terra interior.
Given your tone in the posts, you got the HE elitism down - you will fit right in.

you're absolutely correct. White+bronze wheel was how I set up my last build, and what I'll be doing for the 200 too. Was planning bronze method for the non-HEs. But obviously I won't be complaing if it's an HE.

Hmmm this is news to me. Sounds like a relatively DIY fix?

As @Sandroad said it is quite complex. Requires evacuation and refilling of the AC system on top of removing the front seats and tearing apart most of the center console.

Preach on...

adds inches....

Please at least try to keep this on topic.

well my wifes HE is exactly 1inch higher than my poverty spec 200, all around

so the fact that it adds inches, is indeed on topic for a HE owner
Alright, out with it. How many LCs do you have? *jealousy starting to grow*

Also, it turns on the AC, and you can't turn the AC off with the cool box on. Drove me nuts trying to figure that out.
Ha! I was trying to turn the A/C off earlier today and gave up.

My cooler box is always on. Makes sense now why I couldn't turn off the A/C 👍

I've read that the HE rear is slightly higher due to lack of third row. But the front too?
Just the two row HE is significantly higher in the back due to different rate springs. You said above you would remove the third row if you get the HE. If that is your plan, I would recommend just find a 2row HE. You will also benefit on having the back higher. As far as I know, even if you remove the seats from the 3row HEs, you will still be pretty much leveled with the front.

My opinion is biased since I have an HE. I just love the HE's look and "lifted" look. If you plan to keep it for life, get the one you want more - which seems to be the non-HE, brown seats. But if you plan to trade-in in the future, the HE adds significant value to your trade.

Yea I've been reading more into the different spring rate thing. But I guess due to the limited amount of HEs, the data is also pretty limited.
I will remove 3rd row for sure. So you're saying a 2row HE rear will sit higher than a 3row (HE or not), with 3rd row removed?

This is very trivial, the rear height will not affect my decision, I'm just curious.

What makes HE the lifted look?

The funny thing is after babbling this topic with my friends, we all came to the conclusion that I'd be happy with either choice. Terra is great bc I love the color. HE is great bc of headlights/grill/and bronze wheels.
I even tried the "coin flip" trick for decision making, and it amounted to nothing. Heart will be happy either way. I guess thats why my brain is trying identify some logical differences, like the coolbox, to become the decision maker.

So you're saying a 2row HE rear will sit higher than a 3row (HE or not), with 3rd row removed?
Correct. The 2rowHE has the longer springs which makes it higher in the back. My understanding is that all other 3row LC (HE included) have the shorter springs, I guess due to the added weight.
What makes HE the lifted look?
IMO it just happens with the 2row HE, due to the spring-rate discussion above. That adds several inches in the back and, if you pair that with the OEM strut spacer, you get (to me) the perfect OEM stance for the LCHE. I was at a red light the other day and a guy waved to me and asked if I had a lift on my truck. I told him, no Just the OEM spacers and the HE being higher in the back.

HE owners are admired, respected, stared at, waved to, taken pics of

Non HE owners are mistaken for Highlanders

How fickle the Earth is…
HE owners buy tickets to the quail, non HE guys roam the parking lot trash cans for wrist bands.

The springs have a longer free length, as well as a thinner wire and less wraps, suggesting a lower spring rate. Which makes sense, given the reduced loads expected in the back of a HE.
