Hi all,

I found that my rear seat won't fold down. It will only fold forwards, but that's useless if it doesn't fold down.

I pull on the rear strap behind the seat and it only folds forward.

Any suggestions?

the canvas strap pulls two cables that release the latches on the side hinges of the bench seat. the outer sleve of the cables are held in place in a small bracket at rear of the seat near the pull strap. If the cables are out of the bracket, they won't release the latches. I got a doner bench rear seat from a PZJ 70 South African Cruiser and this was the problem. On my seat the bottom cover is held in place by velcro, easy to remove and check cables. Best of luck with yours.

Mine does the same thing. While pulling the strap, give it a good hard smack by the headrest and it will fold over. One day I will get around to fixing it.

usually it is dry that sticks the mech ...
take it apart and clean and lube it, one banana, one hour job.

If you don't have small children or close friends who are professional contortionists I would remove it :D :D

agreed
but
if you have big dogs that ride with you they do like that seat positioning ... at least mine do.

Cleaning it up and lubing it is the 1st step, but you can also check for broken cables.
Its also most likely full of dirt around the striker.
Is it the type with rear shoulder and lap belts?
