Bj74 heater core broke....thinking of bypassing it

I was putting my dash back together and the copper piece that connects to the heater core popped off. I don't have the time to pull it out again and fix it, it's too dang tight to fix it in place, and I live in San Diego so frankly my heater isn't needed right now.

My question is there any issue with me bypassing the heater core with heater hose and taking care of it later when i have time

Nothing at all dude, bypass it

bypass or block off if you don't want to cycle hot coolant straight back into the engine, either would work fine

I would join the 2 heater hoses at the firewall together with some tube and hose clamps.

Thanks for the help. I went ahead and put some elbows and heater hose and bypassed. To bad its such a bitch getting the heater core itself out with out removing so much.

I have a complete heater housing with core if you want to replace it

Removed my rear heater unit decades ago. Now I have storage under the centre console tray.
You might consider taking it out also and then cleaning up all heater lines.
