So, small back story.
Blew head gasket, trashed 2 push rods and a lifter.

Now here is the question. I take the timing cover off to pull the cam, and because I am super anal and check everything to see if anything is jacked up. SO here is my confusion, I drove this damn thing into the garage.... how in the piss is this timing this screwed up? Or am I just reading the manual wrong.

some pics for you.
Here is the manual

Pretty simple right? turn s*** and line up the numbers seems pretty much idiot proof.. like seriously

now here is my confusion, was this s*** screwed up from the factory? am i on drugs and reading s*** wrong? or whats going on here
(for the record i may huff alot of jet fuel in my job; not by choice; but i don't do drugs)

Should I just time this s*** correctly? i mean i feel like i should because it would be right but how the piss was this girl running?

OP.. what happened when you timed it up? he asked, 7 years later

I believe it takes around 270ish revolutions of the crank for those numbers to all line up in the same spot from TDC.

So if you randomly open up your timing cover they aren't going to line up with 1 revolution, if that makes sense.
