The one that was originally there snapped off and has been replaced with me shoving a spare antenna I use for my RC controller and it doesn't seem to be working all that great.

So I think it's time I put in something that'll work. I think the original one still has little bits inside the hole.

Does anyone know the diameter of the antenna that I need to buy?

It shouldn't be that hard to take off the fender and pull out the antenna would it?

I'm in BC, Canada. I do see 60s around here but I'm sure their owners won't appreciate me going up to their cars and taking off their antennas

And Rubber Ducky?? How does that work?

The Toyota is a standard size ,the same as many other vehicles on the road.

Was yours an electric antennae? I think you can buy the top bit from Toyota.

Otherwise you just pull the whole lot out and buy a new antennae. and plug the old wire into it.
The hole in the fender is about an inch wide so any base will fit.

A rubber ducky is the blue flexible antennea on my bullbar but it will also fit on the fender, its an old CBers term:D
The black rubber ducky cb antennea now sits next to the blue rubber ducky:D

My antennae was the victim of some over-enthusiastic snow clearing recently. It looks to be a pain to get into the fender to change te assembly - does anyone know of an easy way? And, is the assembly specific to RHD or can I get a replacement from Toyota?

thanks for any advice

I've tried to unscrew the entire base but that didn't work at all, either it just doesn't come off or I wasn't doing it properly

I think you have to turn those 4 notches at the base.

Thanks, Wayne. I guess that means the fender has to come off?
Maybe it will be an aftermarket unit on the offside corner of the bumper for now.
