I recently got my 70 and love driving it but rear bench seems to be limited to tilting forward at an 80 degree angle. Is there a way to modify the side brackets or get them from other models. I’ve seen other rear seats that look to tilt back in a typical seat configuration that would be comfortable to sit in?

Hello,

70 Series had the rear seat you have. It is either folded or straight in one position.

Some 70 Series, mainly Light Duty examples, had reclining rear seats. These are rare, however.

Rather than modifying brackets, you may want to source a reclining rear seat from a Light Duty 70 Series.

Have you sat back there? If your 70 is anything like my bj74, I don’t think seat back angle alone will make for comfortable rear seating!

I don’t use it enough, besides the dog to warrant finding a new bench and cost of shipping. It’s a new truck (my first) and there are other add Ons and mods that I would spend on first. If there was a quicker fix or a part swap out I’d do it but in the big picture it can wait. Let the guys from work cry when we go to lunch and one of them has to sit back there! Lol

I am still interested to know if the brackets from say, an HZJ73, are a direct replacement. I ask because even though my 90' HZJ73 isn't SUPER comfortable, the back seat does't actually lean you forward like the BJ70. I know the brackets are different, but figured maybe someone tried it here already. If not, then anyone with a MWB 70-series have some seat brackets they can part with?
