I have a 96' 80series that got a little banged up a couple winters ago ie smashed rear window ,taillights, tailgate ,rear roof was thinking of bobbing the rear all ways wanted to put a tray on the back but never had a reson now I do! My daily driver up to a year ago was a 85bj70 awesome truck just not a awesome commute vehicle! Question is what would you do try and transplant axles & suspension & part out the rest or just take the plasma cutter to her?
I know how to fabricate but don't know a lot about the geometry of suspensions.Any thoughts would be appriciated

I don't really have any answers to any of your questions, just maybe some comments.... I've been daily driving my BJ74 for about 15 months now and my commute distance recently doubled from about 20 miles one way, to about 40 miles one way, in much heavier traffic. I have to say I am really not enjoying the BJ74 on the longer commute, although I would wager a good deal of my non-enjoyment is most likely from heavy traffic congestion and construction zones.

As for 80 coils under a BJ70?--sure! why not? The "light duty" LJ7x was always coils front and rear. I've never ridden in one, but how in the world could coils and links *NOT* be more comfortable than leafs?!?! I have crazy thoughts from time to time about doing something like that to my BJ74 one day.... In fact, just today was thinking about it as I cane across an FJ80 with blown motor that is for sale cheap.
