1981 BJ44 mid-wheelbase for sale on Ebay.
I imported two BJ44 Land Cruisers to the U.S. and am selling one of them. It is listed on Ebay and is for sale locally. It is located in Tyler, TX and you are welcome to come drive it or to have someone come check it out. It is located at the following link... if I did this correctly.

Toyota : Land Cruiser Toyota : Land Cruiser | eBay

could you post more pictures of the engine and some other parts? How about the frame number/vin?

Thanks!

K

I should be able to get over and take pictures tomorrow. The frame/vin is the same that is in the ebay listing.
1981 BJ44-002303
The model is K-BJ44-V

any Texans going for a look and can report back???

many of these rust buckets get painted over by undertakers that can "bury" anything under layers of paint and they can be crawling with rot. This would be my main concern even looking at shiny pictures and rattlecanned underbodies.

Hey guys, I can make arrangements to pick up lookers from DFW airport, or maybe just drive the cruiser up there to meet.

Could you tell us a little more background. How long you've had it, why are you selling it, etc. Your eBay listing mentioned previous owner; if you imported it, does that mean the previous owner is a japanese guy?

If if doesn't sell on eBay would you be open to trades?

I purchased this truck in about November of last year, along with two other vehicles, to bring back to the States. I had family living in Japan and checked these out when I was visiting. The previous owner was indeed a Japanese guy, as were the guys that designed and built the glorious Land Cruisers that we worship and adore. I don't know the extent of the previous repair although I do know that it was a color change from white to black and they did some rust repair at the time. There are places around the vehicle that show some signs of rust popping through. The front edge of the hood and the bib could be replaced. I have a good set that I could possibly work into the deal. I don't know how long ago this work was performed. The frame and undercarriage parts were coated with what looks like is some kind of black paint, but not a rubberized undercoating. A clean-up and some POR-15 should take care of this surface rust that was coated over. The mechanicals all seem fine. It starts easily and runs as it should. The 2b diesels are no race engines by any stretch of the imagination, but wasn't designed to be that way either. The truck rides exceptionally well up until reaching speeds where the unbalanced tires start to vibrate. I am still searching for some matching tires for the front, as it appears the WHITE OUTLINE LETTERS were discontinued, at least here in the states. (Goodyear Wrangler MT/R 235-85-16 OWL). I need two if you know of some. I would see this truck as a daily driver and would not hesitate to take it on a road trip (after tire balancing) to just about anywhere. Nice truck, not perfect, unique and pretty rare. Come check it out, I think you'll be pleased.

Hi there,

Are you planning on swapping out the tires with a balanced set (for those interested in a long drive to a new home).?

also curious if you are going to have a mud price? or relist it on ebay?

interested, thanks

x2 on above

I've been watching it too and want to know what your plans are.

Trades?

Hello guys, and thanks for the questions and interest. The other day I took the tires and wheels off of another cruiser and put on this BJ44. They are aluminum white spoke rims with Toyo directional Transpath M/T tires. They are knee deep in aggressive rubber, but they show signs of some dry rot. The cruiser drove really good, but the steering wheel isn't centered. I am going to try to take it to get the front end aligned tomorrow or the next day and see how she rides/drives. I am still looking for two matching tires for the Wrangler MT/R white outline tires, but haven't found them yet. That would be the best thing for long drivers. I was debating on throwing in a hood and bib in place of the two new tires. I've had others question me about whether or not I am going to re-list it on Ebay, but I haven't decided just yet. I will make an MUD offer of $15,750 for the first one that comes with cash and is satisfied with the cruiser. It will be the weekend before I can re-list and add more photos. I am away from my personal computer and can't access everything from this one. P/M me your phone number and I will try to give you a call tomorrow (Tues, Feb 7th, 2012). OH.. as far as trades go, I've got so many projects that I can't get to at the moment, it wouldn't be marritally wise to take on something else. (is marritally wise a word?, maybe matromonially?)

I am going to re-list this on EBay tomorrow. The new MUD price is $15,000. Let me know if there is any interest.

Thanks

OK, it's officially re-listed on EBaya. PM or email me with any questions.

Still watching/interested. Just bad timing for me.

Sorry for the late edit, but this cruiser has been sold. I will have another one for sale soon, either a 1980 BJ44 or a 1981 BJ41. Both are JDM RHD 2b diesel powered.
