I have a 1976 BJ40 with B engine that I have been restoring for 3 years. The engine was running perfectly when I started so I have not done anything with it, except for a paint job. Several times during the restoration period I have started the engine and it has been running perfectly, last time 3 weeks ago.
But when I tried today it will not come up in rev, it runs at idle even with full throttle. Then it started to run very uneven, and stall. Same thing with 2. and 3. attempt. I have vented the fuel system to the filter, but not the pump/ injection pipes. Did the same thing when I fitted the diesel tank, no fuzz then. Since I am not very familiar with diesels, any suggestion would be appreciated.

BLUSH!
Forget about that. The thread should be deleted, or left for anecdotal reasons. The reason was, as I suddenly came to remember when starting to vent the injector pipes, that I stuffed a roll of paper into the air intake hose (no filter fitted) to prevent dust to enter the system. The paper was sucked in, but luckily stopped by the throttle. No it runs as a cruiser should, perfectly.
