Where do you BJ70 guys in the US buy your standart stuff from? general supplies like filters, belts, radiator hoses...
If anyone is that organized, do you have parts numbers for e.g. napa? it's for an 85 BJ70.

thanks for the help!

Dont know about BJ70 specs but I have a HJ60 in the US and Ive been getting my filters thru Fleetpride
Hope that helps a little

I go mainly to napa.. but advance/checker or toyota.
www.napaonline.com and go through the vehicle list.. the 3b is listed. and the BJ70 is listed on advance website. Just pick toyota/landcruiser/ etc. Some things I just know over the years that crossover. The knuckle out on a 70 is the same as a 60.. etc. Really most basic things are easy to source. Specific items for a 70 are a little tougher and longer wait. Some of the brethern up north help out too. In fact I'm getting a new windshield installed tomorrow at 3 with w/s :)

So.. what do you need?

Right now I need the basics for the cooling system. radiator hoses, fan clutch, thermostat, waterpump, all belts. also a clutch slave cylinder, a primer pump, and all filters.
thanks for the help! just started playing with the BJ70, after a 78FJ40 and a 89FJ62 (could not deal with the gas mileage),

BTW, what other spare parts for the diesel engine do you guys carry, if you go into the desert for a week?

Have all these failed or are you looking for spares? Toyota USA should have all these parts (my dealer in Canada tells me they come through Torrance, CA before they even get to Canada!).

The belts and filters may be the only aftermarket parts that you'll be able to source. The oil filter is the same as a Ford V8 (Fram PH8A equivalent). The water pump and clutch slave will be OEM only unless someone local to you will rebuild them. The primer pump (I'm assuming thats the one on the injection pump) can be sourced or rebuilt at the local diesel injection shop.

I do not carry a lot of spares on my trips only the following: rad hoses up and down, fan belt, one set of injectors, one set of glow plugs, thermostat, fuel filter and I run a cleanable (TRD) air filter.

That's basically the spares I took on the recent trip to Guatemala from Vancouver, B.C.

Thanks!
Nothing has failed so far, they are just spares.
I like to go into remore areas in Baja, and there is really nothing around. However, it's not as far as BC to Guatemala.

If you're looking for big ticket items, such as pump, engine bits, etc, try Toyota Lift.
They should have parts for B, 2B and 3B, as well as H and 2H.
Might be pricey, though, due to mainly supplying industrial customers.

Also, CarQuest has been a great source of obscure and crossover parts for everything from
2-cycle hand saws all the way up to class 5 OTR trucks. If you have an OEM part number, they
can usually find it. And their filters are all Wix.

Take your shop manual and a good set of tools then. I'm sure you're also aware that Toyota does not have a large OFFICIAL presence in Mexico (lots of mini trucks but they all came from the states), so parts if needed come from the states.
Having said that I'm comfortable with the stuff I'm carrying but I'm not doing any hard wheeling through Mexico either.
I've limped home from Mazatlan to Vancouver, Canada two 1/2 years ago with tranny problems (I only had 3rd & 4th gear to work with due to a common tranny problem, but I didn't have the part) so be prepared to limp across the border as well if problems come up that you cannot fix but don't leave you stranded.

I have the smae year as you and have good luck with my local Toyota Dealer here in Norhtern California (the San Rafael delaership) So far I have been able to get everything I asked for. Bolts, nuts, exhaust gaskets, bulbs, filters etc. I havent tried for things like a new tachometer yet though... here is a list of people I have found with parts and info, (4wheel auto I know has coolant hose packages):

Thanks for the info!
I am dealing now with 4 wheel, and Marv Specter, and I'll get everything I want.
The local Toyota dealer (Mossy Toyota in San Diego) was less than helpful. They simply said they can't order any BJ70 parts, period.

You should get the EPC parts catalog and burn it or buy the CD fiche from Mark Wojo in NY. Then call your local dealer with the part #. Many parts cross over and as long as it shows up in the system they can get it. That way they don't know what it's for ;). You should really put Greg and Sheldon on your list. Sheldon really helped me out on a few hard to get items.

Call Bill Klinton. He had a non stop BJ supply in the Oval Office!

He should be able to help. The guy MUST be good for something?

Do you have Mark Wojo's email address, by any chance?
thanks
