While inspecting parts prior to the ACT 2010 I've found that one of my front axle spindles is worn out.

Of course the bearings are easily souced in my small town, but the spindle is another story. Searching on Mud I found a place that will spray weld and chrome my existing spindle (which is not too bad, just missing some of the chrome finish), but I'd really like to get a new spindle and keep the worn one as a trail spare.

Carrying a spare spindle on the trail probably seems a bit much. But if I had not lent out my spare spindle on the Rubicon a couple years ago ( and never got it back!) I would not be needing to find another one!

Now I'm in need of a spindle for my 87 Bj-70. Which ones are interchangable? Cuz 70's are pretty rare down here!

Thanks for any input,
JonB

Part number 43401-60060
Same as FJ BJ HJ 60/62
Probably same as 80/08 up FJ40 as well

Thanks for the reply. I wasnt' looking in the right place in the EPC. Now that I know to look under steering knuckle I see the p/n's.

And the number I see is 43401-60012 for 40's, 60's, 70's, and mini-trucks. But when I use 43401-60060 as a search I come up with BJ71's. My vin is JT3BJ71xxxxxxxxxxx and it is a 1987. Is there any actual difference between those p/n's?

It will be easier to source a minitruck spindle around here if it is physically the same.

Thanks again for your time.

On my EPC 43401-60012 subs up to 43401-60060 on spindle listings for 80/08 up J4, J6 and J7

Muchas Gracias for the replies.

A buddy gave me a minitruck spindle that is in really good shape. I will keep my worn out one for a trail spare until I find a better one as it would get you back to the pavement and probably last a couple thousand miles to boot.

Thanks again for the help with the p/n's!

Yup.. same as mini truck too, gota love Toyota.

Off topic:

I'll trade you my 97 antique sage fzj80 40th for yours lol!! How many of those conversions have you done?

Haaa.. sure.
This one is the 5th J80 that I have done myself, I have also been involved on a few others
from a technical standpoint.

Very nice.
