What about this stuff ????

Hello all,

I am new to the forum and am in the process of a "light" restoration to what will become a SWEET 1979 BJ-43 . I very much want to get involved with Bio D as my wife drives a 99 MB-300 and I could also run it in my boat as well. My question is does anyone have any knowledge of the "Diesel Secret" method of converting WVO ??? If I am to believe their rather infomercialist type ads their process is light years simpler than what everyone else is doing with methanol and NaOH.

Allegedly they have a chemical that you merely add to WVO, stir vigorously, then pump through a filter into your vehicle......kind of hard to believe but here is the link to their video : http://www.dieselsecret.com/video1.html They do specify that it only will work with a vegetable oil and not peanut oil or any of the heavier greases. If it really works I don't know why anyone would bother with all the other steps and chemicals in the other process. Than again if it looks to good to be true.......I wish I had a guinea pig diesel to put this thru to see how well it really works but since I don't I am fairly hesitant to try it for fear of gumming up the works. Has anyone tried or even heard of this ????

Cheers

Randy

DS is a scam. If you are in a warm climate, with a simple Mercedes type engine, and can get good quality oil then it works just as well without the secret ingredients. Lots of folks do it without the snake oil, it's called "blending" fuels. A typical mix could include VO, kerosene, diesel, stale gasoline, acetone, gum turpentine. The percentages will vary with the climate

Mixture Percentage???

Is there a known percentage for this mixture, if so where can I find it?
THanks!

A generally safe mix is 20% clear clean VO, 1% stale gas per degree C below freezing, 0.1% acetone, 0.1% gum turpentine, and the rest ULSD, kerosene, or stove oil. Lots of folks run a greater percent of VO, but not all vehicles can handle that with all types of VO in all climates.

If you want a copy of the drawing for my simple oil cleaning system PM a e-mail addy and I'll send it.

I have a 1pz 1991 model and I am making biodiesel to use in it ut I am a bit worried because when I read about using biodiesel in other places they say they had to change fuel lines. Did you have to change anything on your 1hz? Would you recommend any changes?

OK - I have read 12 pages of posts and I want to make sure I got this right. I have a daily driver 1980 BJ40 with a B engine. I have been running B20 in it for 6 months no problem and I just moved to Phoenix where I have access to B99. I don't need to do anything other than monitor the rubber fuel lines and change the fuel filter (how often) Thanks in advance y'all!

The filter can also wait until power drops, just have a filter and wrench ready (and advice new purge pump)
Water sedimenter is also good to have but company fuel should be good quality.

You can add acetone for less engine noise and bit of improved torque and lower fuel usage.
If your fuel tank is 100 liters divide by 2 = 50 and times three is 150 ml for the first add, then same calculation for next fill, after 2 or 3 tanks the change starts to be noticable.
I also add 150ml 2 stroke oil for the pump, no more wvo just diesel.

I've been searching with no luck on this, but I would like to run biodiesel in my BJ73 with a 3bii in it. The 3b has a bit more space to add a filter in line, but I am having trouble finding a good spot for my Racor filter in line before the toyota OEM one. Has anyone setup a fuel/water filter in advance of the OEM one on a 3bii and if so where did you place the filter?

I used a donaldson kit for my 2h if that helps..the donaldson is a finer filter than the ome 'style' filter so my primary filter makes the secondary useless, but it was an easy install. I change both at the same time, buy the filters by the bulk.
Haven't had the balls to run bio, and local bp bowser fuel quality has been pretty good. I am building a second 2h troopy, slowly, I think I rather get the spare troopy running on bio to iron out problems which seems guaranteed. Stainless tank and lines, bio safe filler neck etc would be better..
I got some viton hose off ebay , it is very soft hose and abrades too readily.
