Hey Mudders,

I am about to order the Bump It Offroad tube bumper, and thought I'd throw it up to the intelligentsia before I did so to ask 1) if anyone has ordered this bumper with any custom tidbits I might want to consider, and 2) if anyone has any experience with how this bumper did in a collision.

Here's the bumper I am talking about:
80 Custom Tube Front Bumper for Toyota Land Cruiser

I realize there are varied opinions on tube vs. plate bumpers, and I'm sold on tube for weight savings and cost.

I asked Mike at BIO if he could put headlight protection hoops on the bumper, which he said is not possible because of how tight the bumper sits to the body. I respect his opinion and his expertise, so that option is not available.

Thanks!
Russell

I'm running it great bumper has bashed rocks plenty times tube holds up well, really good departure angles, I fit 9.5 winch into mine pretty easy

This has always been my favorite tube bumper. The only thing I would change is welding plates in the large holes under the headlights.

X2. I'm typically not a huge tube bumper fan but I like the design of this one. However, it seems unfinished without some plate covering those two openings...

Don't have the bumper but know plenty of guys that are customers of BIOR and have a lot of great feedback about Mike and his products. I know Mike personally, as well, and can vouch for him being an asset to the LC community.

Headlight protection from what exactly? If you crash, anything in front of the headlights is going to smash the headlights. I have one and love it. It's not a weight savings though. It's way heavier than stock. Consider this if you have a tired motor and don't care about gas mileage. I had mine customized with driving light mounts/ pads. Lights not installed yet.

Thanks for the pics and tips, guys. I see now why putting plate in the large openings is impractical. The recovery points come directly through those openings. The bumper looks great, I'm even more sold on it now.

Thanks again, fellas.

Bumper looks great but I still think it needs plates in the holes. The running boards need to be removed and a matching tube bumper needs to be installed on the back.
