I have the ladder type with the screw-on 2 can holder. I don't seem to have any close-up photos with me but here are some from further away.

In the photo you can see that tube that goes across the back of the tank. On each side there is a flat bar that goes from the back corner of that tube diagonally forward and down then is welded to the cross piece that holds the screws. It is on the bottom right weld that let go on mine.

Difficult to describe without a good photo.

FWIW, the pins that BIOR uses are off the shelf units where the actual pin is zinc coated, but the sleeve is not. So the sleeve will always corrode and eventually make it impossible to remove the pin. We used those same pins in the beginning.

Currently we machine out pins and sleeves out of stainless with a larger diameter to resist corrosion and also breakage.

But the minor weak link is the spring - mine keep rusting and breaking. Everything still works, it's just the pin doesn't spring down when over the closed or open hole.

I run the first one of these Mike ever made. I have tons of washboard miles at high speed, been through MOAB and Baja with it with no issues. If you haven't already, I would contact Mike and see what he says. I mean you haven't had that very long right?

I agree...mine is one of the first ones too....dual jerry can on one side, tire swing on other side, and it is the high clearance early version where you cut out the rear cross member to install. Is my daily driver and goes on dirt roads every weekend.....and offroading slamming down on rocks and ledges 3-4 times a year. Still great...matter of fact lady that owns Uwharrie Eldorado Outpost ran into my jerry can holder last time and did nothing but scrape her paint on it but it ate up her rear quarter panel on her mini-van. Nice old lady....felt sorry but was really glad the bumper got away with nothing more than some lipstick on the collar. :)

only issue with mine has been self inflicted... backed into a sign pole and pushed the dual can holder into my lift gate... pretty big dent.

I just recieved the ladder with single scepter 5 gal swingout .welds and finish look great even had him fab some aluminium pads for the rungs. I'll pozst a pic tommorrow

Just wanted to check in and see if anyone has come up with a solution for siezed pins on rear swing aways. Mine is dozen every time I try to use.

I regularly lubricate my swingout pins with Fluid Film, PB Blaster or anything else liberally from top and bottom. FF is the best IMO. I've also found turning the pins clockwise or counterclockwise helps if they are sticking.

I use a wire pistol bruise and cleaner, then lube. Will check the fluid film.

Will the new pins work in the old bumpers? I have not had an issue yet, but I've only had my bumper for about a year or so.
