So, I just left the Bilstein facilities in Poway, California, where I left my 200 Series. Bilstein will use my Land Cruiser to perform testing and fitting for the 6112/5160 heavy load springs. I'll keep you posted on what I learn. Bilstein will have my LC for about a week.

i'll be watching this space. would be awesome to have an option for heavy load springs to be used with stock shocks!!

I do not believe that this will be an option for stock shocks. The springs are for use with the 6112/5160 shocks.

Hey Robert, I live in Poway and was wondering if they need another LC 200 to test I'd be happy to volunteer. Let me know if they do.

Thanks
Amit

There is no way stock shocks could adequately control either the mass that require heavy load springs or the springs themselves when unloaded.

this seems to be inline with what @Markuson explained. good to know. at this point, the build in my head includes a 24 gallon LRA tank, slee (or equivalent) sliders, slee rear bumper with tire swing out and their jerry can basket. Once I have it, I will be trying to set it up for a dual role of a long distance , extended range tourer combined with mild to moderate off-pavement exploring / offroading (example - bear and imogene passes in colorado, broken arrow and schnebly hill road trails in sedona, AZ and such). So no plans on a front bumper/ winch as of now. Sure I am tempted but seeing as we have done the AZ trails in a bone stock LR4 (albeit with cooper ZEON LTZ tires for the stock 19" rims without airing down) , I just do not see the need for a front bumper right off the bat unless the LC will push me to try more difficult trails.

General consensus seems to be a complete suspension redo with the above set up. I was contemplating just heavier springs (2723) in the rear to manage the added weight, but suspension experts have recommended against it in the interests of dynamic weight management and safety. So just toying around with different set ups in my head. I tend to lean towards something simple but durable.
