The lug nut for our trucks are not cheap at all. Last time I had to get a new set (misplaced mine when I change to new wheel), and it cost about $12 to $20 per nut depends on which dealership you go to. So take good care of them! Regarding having other people torque your wheels, I always stand by to the shop floor to make sure they don't do anything stupid. I make sure they hand started the thread, then end with a torque wrench.

Standard procedure at my local discount is that they will hand start the lug nuts, then drive with a torque wrench (on a low setting), and do a final torque with a torque wrench.

I swap wheels a lot on my car for track days and have a good feel for how much torque is on the lugs. And they seem to be properly torqued every time I come back from them. But then I'm watching over their shoulder chatting about the car as well. I won't go to any shop that depends on an impact to torque bolts as that's just asking for trouble for both for the mechanic and the owners.

I've probably mounted/dismounted wheels on my car 40+ times over the years and I'm still on the original (12mm) studs. 14mm cruiser studs should literally never break.
