I just got some news about a new job... I had applied this spring, and heard nothing all summer, till Aug when I was informed that I was an alternate.... But today I got word that they need me, so sometime this week I will be flying off to Antarctica for the winter!!! The best part is I'm going to be driving around one of these:

Those are 48's.... :flipoff2:

I hope to see some of you guys next wheeling season!

Now thats cool Jerod, what will you be doing besides driving around one of those?

The job is mainly moving people to and from the airfields. I'll be at McMurdo Station which is south of New Zealand. When not working, I'll probably be trying to stay warm, and I also just picked up an RC crawler to feed my wheeling addiction... :D

awesome, Jerod! a whole winter on Antarctica. Well, at least they have the Internet there. I saw it on a commercial hehe.

It's actually going to be "Summer" down there.... which will be only slightly worse than our winters.... Today was 18* and 6* with the windchill.... So kind of like Montana or somewhere in the midwest.... Hehe

Just wanted to let you know that I made it down safe yesterday. It's awesome here! I spent half the day today driving a jacked up Ford E350 4x4 van on 38's around on the frozen ocean..... I can't beleive they are paying me! I'll get some pics up when I have a day off....

I wish I had a vehicle all to myself to Cruiserize, but we are in and out of different stuff all day long....

Here's a few pics, obligatory Toyota double cab... The C-17 that took me down... and a view of McMurdo Station from Hut point, the Hut is from an expedition in 1902
