Email from Scott Fields for the 5/16 Guided Trail Drive. This is general info, not sure if we will break into 2 groups as they do that when they have 30 trucks.

"You are receiving this email because you are IN the final group for the Uwharrie Off Road Training Center (UORTC) '35/30 Spring 'Coach & Drive' ' - May 16th Please send this email to everyone in your paid party.

Please read this ENTIRE email. Also- READ attached documents before Saturday. Print and bring with you or I will have them available for signature on Saturday. All children under the age of 18 years of age must have a parent or guardian sign a waiver for them. Do NotEmail Them back to me. Thank you.

What: Guided trail ride

When: May 16, 2015 - 9:15 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Meet: Uwharrie Off Road Training Center, 4026 NC Highway 109 North, Eldorado, NC 27371 at 9:15 AM. We will leave at 10:00 SHARP for Big Creek. You will leave your trailer at UORTC if you have a licensed 4WD. Limited trailer parking available at Big Creek. We will be meeting at UORTC NOT at Big Creek. Please arrive EARLY to make sure we have all your paperwork and ready for a short 'Driver and all passengers MEETING' at 9:50 AM. We will then breakup into 2 groups of 15 4WDs in each, another short meeting and air-down at BIG CREEK. We will try to accommodate keeping friends/parties together the best we can. Meeting new friends is a good thing!!

Where: UORTC's -Big Creek Advanced Skills Training Grounds

Why: An opportunity to drive exciting new trails in the Uwharrie National Forest area; test your driving skills and your vehicle’s off road capabilities; enjoy a fun and rewarding day getting to know yourself and your 4WD vehicle. UORTC's best will be on hand to help you if you would like. We can provide expert coaching, recovery assistance and spotting. Safety and TREAD Lightly! are the most important factors.

Big Creek is a 120 acre property located 3 miles North from UORTC's headquarters. This property has been leased by UORTC to develop trails for training and fun. These trails provide challenges to test modified vehicles with lockers, large tires and WINCHES while providing bypasses that allow a near stock 4x4 vehicle the ability to enjoy the same trails! Some of the trails are tight and not suitable for full size vehicles without incurring body damage!

Drivers must sign a Waiver and a Safety Agreement. All passengers must sign a Waiver. Minors under the age of 18, parents/guardians must sign a waiver for them.

One will check in at UORTC headquarters at 9:15 AM (4026 NC Highway 109 North, Troy, NC, 27371) where you will sign your paperwork. OHV trail driving/riding is an inherently dangerous sport and you acknowledge this fact and assume all liability for damage to your vehicle or injuries to you, your passengers or others on the Big Creek property!

If one breaks down or has problems on the trail - You Will Not Be Left Behind! We will all work together to help that person out! Patience and courtesy is important when wheelin' together!

There is LIMITED trailer parking at Big Creek, register early to insure your spot! There are no bathroom facilities at Big Creek! Bring your own food and drinks! The Big Creek gate will close at 5 p.m. sharp! One may leave at anytime (and return) to travel to the Eldorado Outpost for flushing toilets and food/drinks if they desire. HOWEVER -We cannot guarantee that we can get you back into one of the caravanning groups. Please bring your lunch, snacks, drinks and other items you may need or want on the trail with you. Please - Plan on staying with your caravanning group the entire day!

NO ALCOHOL!

If wet and rainy, please prepare for some very tough trails :)
Again, there will be UORTC personnel stationed on the Big Creek trails to ensure your safety and provide obstacle coaching IF you so desire. We will be monitoring channel 7 FRS/GMRS with handheld transmitters (walking) and CB Channel 17 inside our 4WDs.

Camp sites on the UORTC Headquarters property are available for Friday and Saturday nights. Cost is FREE. If interested in camping please let me know.

As you know, we will be breaking up into 2 groups of 14 to 16 in each group. We will do our best to keep friends and family together!

One group will be more for the driver that likes to drive without spotters, recovery help and coaches.

The other group will be for the driver that likes the little extra help from a spotter, driver coach or rigging your winch. Be thinking of which group you want to be in please. Both groups will be driving the same trails just at different times.

Please arrive by 9:15 AM @ UORTC so we don't hold up the group."

No winch required, obstacles have by-pass. Last time I went I was pretty much stock. This time I am loaded for Zombie Apocalipse

Need to check with the wife on the timing. This may overlap with taking the kids to Disney.

Disney! Bad precedence to make, they will suck every hard earned coined out of you and brainwash your kids that you have to come back every year. How do I know? My kids in college and we had to do Disney last winter break, daughter wanted her 20th B-day at the castle.

Take them to Big Creek, I am sure we can get a couple of guys to dress up as pirates and you tell them "this is Disney, look at the pirates!" and the up and down hill are a lot cheaper and longer than the lines at Disney. I have a goofy hat, no worries.

That sounds SOOOOO much better than standing in line in the sun to go on "It's a Small World".

Yeah Jim, kids wont know the difference. And for the wife, you can prove she doesnt love you with a simple test (use at your own risk):
  1. On a cold cold morning, lock both your wife and dog in the garage with no heat
  2. Wait 2-3 hours
  3. Unlock the door, and see who of the 2 is very happy to see you
  4. QED, dog loves you and wife doesn't
Therefore, no Disney for her!

Seriously, as nuts as it sounds, some of the best memories do come from going with the kids to Disney, we rented a really nice "luxury" 3 bed/3 bath condo right outside the park for $200 a night (Lighthouse Key Resort). Could see the fireworks from our balcony. And in a blink, the kids will grow up and don't want to hang out with you anymore....

Heck, for the total cost of Disney you can buy your kid his/her own trail rig. :)

Iggy, put me down. Hopefully I'll have a friend to commit as well. Let me know when you need a definite count, I'm in for sure.

I've 9 -1/2 year s before they're behind the wheel. I'm driving their trail rig.:D

My step daughter has no real interest in wheeling. She has been with us several times and had fun but it is not something she pursues on her own. She drove my 60 around on our property in L range 1st gear and had fun but she does not care much for driving on road either.

I was happy when Heather decided she wanted her 80 set up for off road. We are not going crazy with it, but you really do not have to with an 80 in order to have an extremely capable truck. I'll be a happy man when the 80 is done and some day I can work on my own 40.................

I forgot, but updated list for 5/23. I am renting the place anyways, so if you can make it, come on over. Same deal, $35 per truck. Let me know, worse case we go with a handful and have more trail time.

@Izzyandsue my sister confirmed she will be there with her 3rd gen runner.

She isn't on this forum but on T4R she is ShariD.

Thanks again for organizing this!

got her on the list, thanks! Better a T4R than a TR4, (see Cars & Coffee Winston Salem thread), those Triumphs don't have much clearance.

I'm in

@Izzyandsue Please count me in. This will be a nice birthday present to myself.
