I know some folks where talking about this in another thread. I went this past Sunday and had some fun.
Getting a permit is super easy, stop at the visitor center go through a power point pay 50 bucks and thats it. No one went out to look at my vehicle or anything. From there keep going down the road till you hit Turner River road, head north and you dead end at the entrance to big bear.
The first part of the trail is super easy, you could drive a car down it.
As you head toward the jeep campground there is an awesome lake that is clear as glass. Can see all the fish swimming. I tossed a stick in to attract this gator (they are attracted to water vibrations)
When you get further in on some of the far north sections it gets more fun... Over grown trails, you will scratch your car.
This is about as rocky as it gets on the trails
Wasnt really wet on the trails, at least like nothing i saw in some youtube videos.
I got some videos uploading will post those. At first i wasnt really digging it till we got to the back section. All alone the way there are side trails but almost all of them were rocked off and had post saying trail closed. Dont know if they ever plan on opening them again but would be nice as it would add a lot more to the area.
Only ran into three other people out there. A built CJ-8 and a guy in a newer model wrangler extended cab. Not the new new ones but like mid '00 and lastly a guy riding his bike.
Never once felt like i was gonna get stuck on or in anything. Maybe when its wetter but not now.
