so i have been searching, but cant find any information on it

so......... woulda big block fit in a fj40? :D:D

just wondering. weighing my engine options right now :)

Yep.

Mark...

Remember Wolf359?

He was in Top truck 2002. 502 big block :)

SUPRA-charge it :D Get a TT supra motor and throw it in there, would be pretty awesome I think.

Edit: although it is not a big block that is for sure. Someone posted up a link to a supra with over 1200 HP and I don't even want to know the torque (straps blocks and etc and this thing STILL managed to almost jump off the dyno)

No substitute for cubic inches. Go 502. My wimpy one made 540 ft.lbs. at 2300 rpm. That with an converter/automatic, there is no shortage of torque. It would probably like to be lugged down also if using a stick, just don't get too crazy with the cam profile.

My buddy had a 454 in his back in the day.

ok well heres the idea:

small block seems to be easier due to parts i just kinda ran into :)

Dart little M block
callies dragon slayer 383 crank (4340 crank)
lunati 5.850 pro stock rods
Dart CNC aluminum heads
undecided on profile, but it'll be a mechanical roller
150 plate, 225ish fogger on a victor junior intake.

should be good for 700-900 hp depending on my cam and how much compression :)

i can HEAR my stock toyota axles glaring at me
im looking for a dana 60 rear as we type :)

There was a guy at Rubithon last week with a Big Block Pontiac (or was it an Olds?) in a 40. Had overheating problems until we pulled the hood and strapped it on top of the cage. We think it was probably vapor lock from underhood temps. Didn't have any trouble after the hood was turned into a hardtop. He probably would have been OK with different fuel line routing and possibly cutting out the inner fenderwells.

All that being said- it can be done, but the engine compartment gets really tight. I wouldn't want to have to work on it much on the trail- there's just no room for hands and arms, let alone tools. It did sound good though!

make's for a great picture...
