depending on ana's state of mind, planning thurs-sun.

However, since this appears to be a base camp model, I willl skip the harder cores stuff and mountain bike around for fun.

If ana does not go, I will try and hitch a ride in a more capable rig (my 100 is a dd "overist" rig). in case you don't know....overist = overland tourist :cheers:

Awesome. Your rig can definitely run Gold mountain and Little John Bull.
Around the Pinnacles, the valley is green with water at spots. If time allows, I want to walk and check out the valley and mine walking trails. You should have fun biking around the camp.

Jim and I are planning on doing some AAT work on Sunday the 25th at Crab Flats staging area. A few sets of hands are needed to replace a loading ramp. Let me know if you are interested. Thanks Kim 714-262-0270. FYI be careful traveling 3N16. Watch out for some pretty big holes in the road.

DAT (Ttoner80), Ok, here is the skinny..

Ana has a zoom meeting Friday, 1230p. I have 2 options that include her (well, 3 but the 3rd is waaaaaay more difficult):

a) drive up thurs (coordinate a meeting for drive in), set up base camp, spend the night, then drive out to the North Shore Cafe in fawskin via Polique Canyon Road. then return after meeting (7 miles one way...approx 32m). Hopefully gas will be a non-problem, other wise I have to head over to the arco station on the other side of the causeway :doh:

b) drive up friday, attend meeting, then head to camp using route identified in a.

I already checked w. North Shore, and they have wifi (hopefully fast enough for zoom).

Only other option is if you know that other closer areas have wifi.

that's not my story....and i'm not sticking to it.

Mr. Live to Ski (David)

For your option a, I am planning to be at Fawnskin Fire Station Thursday morning. I’ll post the exact time closer to the date. Once we set up camp I will post the coordinates here as soon as I find cell service so everyone can find their own way to camp.

On Friday, I’m going back down to Polique Canyon and the highway to meet the Friday arrivals. We can caravan down or meet up if you decide on your option b.

I may be in the same gas situation on Friday!

sounds like a plan. Now to pull it off.

Alright folks, I've got expression of interest either here or verbally. I'm just putting together a list to get a rough estimate on the size of camp we will need when I hit the slope dirt next Thursday. So far:

Rich and Katelyn P. in for multiple nights
@menancyandsam in for Thursday - Sunday
@Live to Ski - Thu/Fri - Sunday
@Brentbba - Friday - Sunday
@Big Wave Dave - multiple nights
@chriscosta416 - day run, possible O/N
@Dan 240 - TBD
@FJ80993 - TBD
@DirtyRice Joe - TBD

Plus minus 10 vehicles and possibly 2 trailers.

SPECIAL NOTE for campers. So far the two trailers are arriving Thursday or Friday. I plan to travel with those towing trailers to the camp location on Thursday and Friday. I will meet with those coming on Friday by 9:30 am. I am currently NOT planning to guide any camper to camp after the Friday morning trip. If you plan to travel to cam on your own, the tentative camp locations that I scouted out are listed above (Big Bear-a-thon for June 2023 - https://forum.ih8mud.com/threads/big-bear-a-thon-for-june-2023.1312837/post-14998219). After a camp location is secured on Thursday and I will post the coordinates of the confirmed camp location by Friday morning, sooner if I get good cell service.

Please get a FREE camp fire permit (Campfire Permit - Ready for Wildfire - https://www.readyforwildfire.org/permits/campfire-permit/) if you plan to camp overnight and to use gas stove for cooking.

As far as I know, there's still a no open camp fire order in place.

Nine days and counting!....

I don’t think I’ll be able to attend this one, I was hoping some of my plans would change as we got closer but it’s not looking likely.

No worries. There will be others. We have a work day scheduled in Big Bear in July.

I'm definitely planning on coming on Thursday with the Basecamp 20X trailer. I will be doing the Fri & Sat runs and leaving Sunday morning. See you in about a week.

I'm going, and can come up on Thursday to secure a camp site. Dat, if you have a location picked out can you let me know where it is.

For Thursday Arrivals:
I’ll be heading out just before 9 am to avoid a rush hour traffic and will be taking I-10 from East LA if you plan to caravan with me. Otherwise, let’s meet up around 11 or noon at Polique Canyon Road 34°15'52.5"N 116°55'23.7"W - https://maps.app.goo.gl/j7erN46bxrZRAbYb6?g_st=ic.
Shortly after noon, we will head to the Holcomb Pinnacles. This is the first camp site that we will try to secure: 34°18'18.9"N 116°53'10.1"W - https://maps.app.goo.gl/Zum1B2oAywWWbHkm8?g_st=ic.
If that doesn’t work out, there are a few alternatives in same area. If nothing is suitable in the Holcomb Pinnacles, then we’ll drive back out and head further east on 3N16 towards other alternatives.

Apologies for not wanting to post my phone number in this post, a publicly accessible space (too many spams). My number is in the club shared contact list (one that is maintained by our beloved president Joe DirtyRice Joe - https://forum.ih8mud.com/members/14030/). If you are not on it you don’t have it. In which case, send me a PM here and I’ll respond with my number. Or just check with other club members, some may already had it or can access the club list.

Due to sig other's work schedule, we will be leaving capo beach approx noon on thurs.
eta looks to be 3p or later. No ham radio on this buggy.

Any one else w. similar timing, hollar for convoy potential.
