I just bought a set of BFG TA/KM2s - 315/75 16. I have been running BFG TA/KOs for years on my 95 80 series but wanted to go to a more agressive tire. After much research here on Mud and other sources, I narrowed my choices down to the Toyo MTs and the KM2s. I was interested in an overall good mud tire that I could get a reasonable amount of miles out of and that performed well off-road. Most importantly I wanted tough side-walls.

I opted for the Toyos and ordered them from Discount and waited 8 weeks for them to arrive and was then told it could be another 4 months....they didn't know when they would get in. So..I opted for the BFGs since it was a close race to begin with.

So far, I love them. They are amazingly quiet for a mud tire but they are also brand new.

Since they have been out a couple of years, I am interested in feedback from those who have been running them for a while....especially if you have worn out a pair. How many miles did you get? Did they get super loud when they got older? Did they cup? Did you rotate them regularly? Did they perform well off-road? Would you buy them again?

Your feedback will be much appreciated as I'd like to know what to expect.

I had a set of km2's for one week.... I punctured the side wall in three of the tires with cactus!!! to give them some credit I slid off a trail in northern az full of cactus and very steep, tires were not air'd down and it was some nasty terrain. Still I will not buy another set because I spent 1000 bucks on the tires and expected more out of them, I hope you have better luck.

Just an after thought... I have had several sets of the original bfg muds and loved em I hope my circumstances with the km2's were from my bad driving!

Just rotated my 315's. After nearly 50K miles they still have about 15/32 of tread left.

I did rip the sidewall on one off road after only a few hundred miles, but luckily it was replaced under Discount's Policy. Since then, they have seen plenty of trail miles here in AZ, and have always performed well.

I rotate mine about every 10K, and have not seen any abnormal wear. As with any tire, I suspect they have become slightly louder over the past two years due to the wear, but I wouldn't call them noisy.

Had them since December, the only thing I did wrong was buy them in 15 inch size!

Why do you consider this a mistake? I was looking at getting the 33x10.5 to avoid having to buy new wheels.

Guys you can buy these tires at Sams were $10 more for 365s than tire rack but $15 gets lifetime balance rotation and most importantly road hazzard which would of coverd 2nd post tires.

I have had mine for about 10k miles. 255/80/17 size (33.5"). Initially they were extremely quiet. Lately they have gotten noticeably louder. People are starting to comment on the loud hum when riding with me on the freeway. It is starting to bother me too. I was a die hard BFG MT guy for the last 12 years. I don't remember the older KM1's getting this loud, and I'm not too sensitive to noise. I usually have the A/C and radio on.

They do handle well on the road, balance easy, and so far have worked great off-road here in the desert SW. No flats at all.

Mistake because I have a set of 16 inch OEM:whoops:

just put a set of firestone destination m/ts on my 97 80 only had them for one day now if you were to look at the tire youd sware it would be load as heck but they made less noise the my bfg ats ride and road handling much better then i expected hope to get out and try a little off roading on sat

strictly third party here...a good friend runs them on his 80 and didn't like them as much as trxus' until he took a knife to them. now he's really enjoying them. and he does use his hard.

I'd knife them too (grooving knife) if I was to go KM2. Trxus is a better all around tire for a place that sees good winter conditions, but if you were willing to play with a grooving knife I think you could work some magic...
