I just noticed this strange looking lug. Basically new ko2s (800 miles). Any suggestions? Warranty the tire? Run it? (I checked all others, and this is the only one)

Warranty it ASAP.

There's probably a bulge underneath that lug due to some kind of compromise/flaw in the carcass.

Drive it straight to your tire shop and get a new one installed. I wouldn't drive it much more than that on that tire.

I tend to agree, a defect. It could also be out of balance. Either way, after 800 miles get it replaced.

Demand the dealer you bought it from give you a new one. If they refuse get it in writing with pictures. Have them sign the pictures.

This is my thinking, I am going to take it in today.

Good call. Considering that KO2's wear ridiculously even and slowly, this is definitely an issue that any tire shop should warranty without hesitation.

Discount tire said they had never seen anything like it, but they are replacing the tire for free.
Excellent to hear. I also primarily use Discount Tire and have never had a single complaint about them.
