Better mod for the $$$, Front Locker or Winch??

I try and leave my winch at home , she always complains when I get stuck... :hillbilly:
 
If you are still running the OEM 2-pin front diff, the a locker seems to me to be a no-brainer. You are replacing/upgrading a known weak point on the 100 (of which they are few), and gaining strong off-road capability. If you have a winch bumper already then you can throw a Harbor Freight 12k winch on for a few hundred dollars. Ran one on my 60 series for years without failure. keep it covered and wound correctly and you should be good.
 
Both. Buy cheap locker now and put on shelf, then buy winch


Winch. If you wheel solo, then x2 on winch.
 
A winch will help you learn to drive better. IMHO, too many newbs on the trails hit a switch vs. learning to drive. Add a locker after you figure out driving, the winch will save you once you push it too far.
