Thinking that I read somewhere that the older LX470´s had less problems with the AHC system, vs. newer? Is there a high failure rate?

Also if you press the down button...how much does the AHC lower the LX470 compared to a Land Cruiser with a normal suspension?

I have a 2000 LX with over 160k miles, only changed the fluid twice now, and have never had a problem. Well, except after the bumpers, winch, and drawers, I sometimes ride in low if the truck is loaded with cargo. However, I have concluded it is not really L, it just not the normal height.

As far as the height of L, I am not sure. Just curious, why do you ask/care?

There's about 3.5"-4" of travel from L-N-H. About an 1.5-2" from N -> L and roughly 2" from N -> H.

Never heard the rumor about newer vs older reliabiltiy issues.

99 LX with 180k miles. No issues, changed fluid twice. I do hear the compressor coming on here and there at stop lights etc to adjust, but this has been this way for a good year now. Not sure if that's a sign that it's wearing... The ride is still oh so buttery :D

I had a 99 LX470, spent its life in California 10 out of the 11 years (1 year in FL). After 166k miles, the shocks had some seepage, but other than some AHC fluid changes, never put a dime into it. I had heard from a dealer I serviced at when under warranty that the 2003 or 2004 and newer trucks had more sensitive sensors, and would tend to jack up the rear to ridiculous heights (which I have seen quite a few times), and that the 98-00 ones were rock solid. But I'm pretty sure that was just dealer servicemen speculation, nothing proven. As long as you take care of it, it will last no matter the year of the truck. Changing the fluid every now and then is necessary.

Also, maybe someone else will chime in, but weren't there two different AHC fluids offered? One for earlier trucks, and another for later trucks?

I would like to pick up one for the :princess: The problem is my 2 year old is super skinny but weighs in at 40 pounds.... Not to keen on a Siena, so I was thinking AHC for now...when the kid(s) grow up, the AHC can be removed if needed.

So far my 100 is stock and it is a bit too tall for the :princess: , the other option is a 200:idea:

Is the system the same in the 06/07 cruiser vs. the LX470? I am mainly interested in the lowering function.

Yeah 06/07 AHC LCs are literally the same truck as the LX470. It just won't have the Lexus touches, such as the wood, memory seats etc. They all lower.

If you go the 200 route, realize you have to buy the LX570 then. The 200 Land Cruiser doesn't have a HEIGHT adjustable suspension anymore. And the LX570s new are ridiculous. Used they are even more ridiculously priced.

LX570 isn´t happening ;)

I think the 200's might sit a bit lower than the 100´s. If I recall they are about an inch lower.

The difference between the LC and the LX is that the first is electrical and the last is hydraulic.
That's what I have been told.

Pretty sure you got bad advice Wilsil, if it was in reference to the AHC. The lc/lx system is hydraulic. Although both use an electric sensor to determine the ride height, the system is considered hydraulic.

Other cars use a pneumatic system, such as Touaregs and AllRoads.

Not sure I understand what an electrical suspension is. Is that a reference to the electro-magnetic systems that Cadillac employs in their struts and shocks?
