The 200, 100 & 80 series were terrible in the snow..... they are too stable for teaching my kids how to drive in snow!

We had a place in Lake Tahoe for years and would keep various cruisers there. One (very fun) tradition would be to take the
kids out and have them drive in all different snow/ice conditions and purposely find the limits of traction.. and what to do about it..
Luckily we had some good (safe) areas to do this & recover from slides, skids, etc... and how you lose control when you lock up the brakes..
Our 40 and 1985 60 in 2wd were good tools for this.. I wanted them to learn to recover without ABS, stability control and AWD. And it was fun!
I just didn't want them to panic when it happens unplanned.

You can get in plenty of trouble in any vehicle but Land Cruisers are pretty awesome in the snow.. We still have a 2008 BMW 328Xi that's good in snow.. before that an early BMW X5 that was not.. the stability control was almost violent in application and scary on hard ice.. I think any modern AWD with decent tires would be good in the snow but might as well do it in a Land Cruiser!

Agreed, the 200 is also the best vehicle I have ever driven and owned in the snow. Stable and sure footed, up hill or down hill. The past winters I have gone up and down the hills in my neighborhood and city streets, mesmerized by all the cars left behind on the side of the streets as I leisurely drive past them. I look forward to this winter as well. Heck the Seattle area is getting ready for a snow storm tomorrow and next week.

Btw see profile pic :)

We had a blizzard yesterday upstate NY got 6-8 inches I had to go out run some errands etc was driving for 4 hours in the blizzard. I never once felt the truck was not in control it did not slide there was 0 drama. I have Bridgestone blizzacks on the truck, I was passing people in lifted trucks who were doing 10-20 mph.

I am completely floored from driving it, I have never driven something so big that is graceful and not sketchy at anytime during driving. Sorry for the rambling but I am just over the moon with my truck right now lol.
Where in upstate? Im in the Central area. It's been a good week for snow!

Owning an LC 200 only recently, I have to agree with the previous comments on how well behaved they are on icy/snowy roads.

Other than having to bust through a huge chest high berm the snow plow left at the end of the driveway a couple weeks ago, today was my first experience driving the LC in deep snow.

Honestly, I'm kind of disappointed 😞 in the performance in deep snow. I've got a 3/4-mile driveway into a remote property, and the last two snow storms that came through each dropped about 6 inches of snow. It stopped snowing the day before yesterday so the snow had time to settle down to 9 or 10 inches. I routinely bust through deep snow going in, and know my limits. Today I decided to give the new rig a try.

Had center locked, and in H4, with stability control disabled. As I'm driving, the LC starts to struggle and slows down. I then try to accelerate, and nothing, no throttle response. I then floor it, and after a terrible lag, it drops in a lower gear, but still feels weak. So I manually put the transmission into third gear, with only slightly better performance. On the way out, on a road that's already busted open, I had it in second gear, and stability control now enabled, and still had quite a bit of lag. And I wasn't even snow plowing with the front end as I typically do at times

I'm I doing something wrong, or are these 200s dogs in deep snow?

Never had this issue with my V8 Ford Explorer, V6 (manual) Ford Ranger, or even my Weak Ass No-Torque (3.5L manual) Toyota Tacoma busting through the snow.

Well, that's no fun! And surely doesn't sound right. Sounds like some nannies need to be negotiated with to have some fun? I'll let one of the 2016+ owners chime in with what to do as the 8-speed and MTS may work differently?

On my '09, by turning on the center diff lock disables any traction nannies and I can roast tires for days in the loose stuff. I'll usually be in sport with the right gear selected.
