I am trying to figure out what would be the best trail to haul my 40. I just want to be able to haul a single vehicle and I would like to weld a tool box on the front of the trailer. I am sure I will need a dual axle equipment trailer, but what's the best size?

Thank you!

I pull my 40 on a 15ft duel axle (brakes on both) 7000# aztec trailer. Have one of the "tongue" tool boxes on front. The weight is centered better on the 15 ft. A little less tongue weight. the 16 ft axles set back a little further.

Thanks. That is very helpful and what I am looking to do. Either a 15' or 16'. Do you have any pictures? I am not familiar with Aztec trailers.

Thanks again!
Howard

I use a 16' with a 2' dovetail. It's more than you need for a FJ40, but a 16 footer will allow you to haul other things. A 60 or an 80 just fits on one. I've got a toolbox on the front of mine and with the 80's front bumper touching it, the rear bumper just hangs off the rear.

Just go over and ask for Mitch at Bazzell's truck and camper on the Northern Bypass. Tell him Brett sent you.
I got mine from him-it's 18', that's 16' flat with a 2' dovetail. You can get the same in a 14' flat with a 2' dovetail. It's dual axle with a 7000# capacity and electric brakes on both axles. Mitch is always there for you after the sale too, not just for the trailer sale alone. You're gonna need an electric brake controller and a weight distributing hitch would be ideal too.
