Good day guys.

I am tired of the old head unit and speakers on my 2000 LX470

I already purchased a Head unit from Pionner

What would be the best set to put on all 4 doors. Keep in mind I want to keep it looking stock with the OME speaker covers.

Will take care of the subwoofer later or if there is such thing as a complete set up I am all ears.

Thanks.

I just had the following installed, sounds awesome and retains factory speaker covers.

Front:
JL C5-650

Rear:
JL C2-650x

Amp:
JL HD 900/5

If you don't mind me asking how much did that cost you, sounds like a set up I would like to do myself.

I had the all this installed at a local shop that is highly recommended and an authorized dealer/installer for the respective brands. Excellent CS and flawless install, plus they are nice group of guys.

Kenwood DNX7190HD
JL C5-650
JL C2-650x
JL 10W7 ProWedge
JL HD 900/5
Plus a custom made dash kit, all the cables/wires/etc, and installation.

Cost me $4,400

Worth every damn penny :D

Yes I like JL Audio products.....so do my friends:doh:

How hard does that 10W7 hit? I am thinking going 12 or 13 or maybe even 15 W7

Going to do this as well soon.....I'm excited to hear the JL's fit....Amazon has the JL C2650X for $130....great price for a more budget friendly set up!

Infiniti also has some good choices.

Alpine Amp MRP-F300 50X4 RMS

Pioneer 7" display AVH-P4400BH

For me the 10W7 has plenty of punch. I listen to a lot of Classic rock (Eagles, Pink Floyd, Queen, etc) and country. That said on the occasions when do I listen to rap/hip-hop or w/e the sub has plenty of power to shake me, the mirrors, and the license plate. That said, I care more about sound quality than being the loudest guy on the street.

I dont think JL makes a 15 anymore, and also it is extremely important that you get an amp that has the right amount of power, JL's site has a graphic that shows the "optimum" power, you really really need to get an amp that is close to that power level. The shop I had my stuff installed at loaned me an Alpine PDX-5 for a week until they got the JL amp, it sounded awful with only 300W going to the sub, muddy and zero accuracy. Now with 500W, its a totally different sub, absolutely amazing IMO.

Also consider that these are BIG subs, the 10W7 ProWedge was a little bigger than expected, still worth it though. Also the ProWedge I have is sealed, ported would probably be significantly louder.

Lastly, my windshield developed a a single long crack the two weeks before i had the system put in. It didnt get any bigger for two weeks, then I had my system put in and it grew about 5 inches in a 4 days.......so yes it has some power.

Yeah, I was really surprised the the C5 mid-woofer fit in the front doors. The C2s are a really good speaker, especially for the price.

pman- I need to listen to your system. I want to replace my front speakers again  . I've gone through 2 sets of front speakers and they just can't keep up with my type of music. Pretty Lights, Rusko, UKF and Bassnectar aren't to nice on speakers lol. I blew my rear speakers the other day on this song.... (Rusko - Everyday (Netsky Drumstep Remix) - YouTube). Now for the search again  Let me know how this song sounds on your system.

Just come over one day, can you email me the file for the song? im lazy

play it through a aux port if you have one.

One of the few downsides of my headunit.....although that seems to be the case more and more now

you spent $4,400 and can't hook up a iPhone/iPod? You sir get to sit in the box of shame for a week :flipoff2:

It has iPod/iPhone integration so i can hook it up to use if for music or pandora, but i dont think the youtube app will work when its hooked up. I should probably try it....

The majority of head units i looked at dont have an AUX port anymore, they all have true iPod integration. Apparently the iPod no longer has any competition......but thats not really a surprise is it.

It will work through the 20 pin connector. Only thing headunits can't run is phone calls (through the 20 pin connector) . I have found that YouTube on mobile devices put out a lot of bass to compensate for the small speakers, so be careful with the new speakers

sounds like you need to add or adjust the crossover to your door speakers. the deep bass associated with that music you listen to should be mostly handled by the subwoofer.
