Does anyone know? I've got a 99, and I thought I'd do another couple dump/fills and I want to know the best source (price) to get this fluid. I did an internet search, and not much came up. Thoughts? Local parts store here wants $11.41/quart plus taxes...

*Edit - So I just got off the phone with the Lexus dealer and they said they'd do a dump/fill for $100. They said they don't do flushes on any of their vehicles. Then I contacted the Toyota dealer (much closer to where I live) and they said they do a full flush for $160, and they run a cleaning agent through it and add an additive after the fact. Not sure which one to do? I've heard some negative things about the additives.... Your thoughts?

I've only found it at Autozone locally. I think it was closer to $8, but I could have some selective amnesia on that. You only need about 4 qts for a dump fill, so the $100 shop price will get you 2.5 dump/fills without any of their BS and waiting around - this is probably the easiest fluid to drain on the 100. The only other thing you want is a new crush washer and a long spout funnel.

Re additive, there is no call-out in the official maintenance schedule for anything special, so I say why bother/worry about it? Use the M1 or any high quality synth and feel great about it ;)

General consensus on this tranny from past discussions is that you do NOT want any kind of additives or cleaning agents run through it. When the last shop put some Lucas tranny additive I was hesitant, but 50,000 miles later (now at 185k) and a few dump/fills along the way and all is still great.

Between Las Vegas 3 years ago, Oregon 2 years ago and now California (the places I've lived) you can no longer get Mobil 1 Synth ATF because California banned it for too many organic compounds. Oregon and Nevada have no such restrictions, but the stores there said they couldn't get it anymore. However, FOUR years ago I was able to buy it readily in Las Vegas and do a dump/fill. Tranny ran the smoothest on that stuff! I've heard MaxLife ATF is a good option too.

Check Amsoil price. Should be close to the same.

Thanks guys... I believe at Lexus they'll actually drop the pan but I have to check on that again. It would be good to personally inspect the magnet in there to check for shavings (hopefully none) etc...

You could just use the Toyota tranny fluid and save $4/qt
